Choosing a gas lift for kitchen cabinets
Gas lifts for furniture are selected according to three parameters.
- Compression force. First, you should determine the weight of the facade - the larger it is, the “stronger” the gas lift should be. Models from manufacturers have a rating of 60-140 Newton. To accurately determine the required compression force, you need to multiply the weight of the door with fittings by ten. This can be done using special gas lift load calculators from the Internet. To lift one kg of façade you need 10 Newtons.
- Dimensions. The length of the lifting structure directly depends on the size of the door being opened.
- Structure. It can be step-by-step or automatic. Step-by-step is a door with a handle. The automatic one opens with minimal hand pressure, and then closes itself after some time; it does not need a handle.
Any elevator can be sold with or without a set of hinges. Some manufacturers' designs can be installed and removed without the use of any tools because they have a specially shaped locking bracket.
Advantages of mechanisms for kitchen furniture
The main advantages of modern auxiliary systems for furniture are ease of installation, reliability and increased comfort in the use of the kitchen. They make it easy to open and close cabinets and drawers, make it possible to complement the functionality of the kitchen with pull-out tables, dish holders, compartments for storing food, bottles, canned goods, and much more.
With the help of simple mechanisms, you can turn your kitchen into a high-tech and multifunctional room in which you can not only cook food, but also spend free time with family and friends with pleasure and convenience.

Self-installation of a gas lift on a kitchen cabinet
The gas lift lifting mechanism for the kitchen is secured using a spring bracket
The current gas elevators create convenience and comfortable conditions in the kitchen. The service life of the device depends directly on the correct installation. The installation process is not complicated and can be easily done independently.
Basic installation rules:
- It is better to install two gas lifts on one door so that it does not warp over time;
- mechanisms with a force of more than 100 Newton are not often used, only for large and heavy facades, and such are rare;
- the door with a lifting mechanism is adjusted by hinges with which it is attached to the frame. Loops can be overhead or semi-overlay;
- Before assembling the box, fasteners for fittings should be installed on its sides - this is more difficult to do on an already assembled box;
- the gas lift is fastened to the facade when all the finishing is completed and other fittings are already fixed;
- The automatic lift is installed according to the instructions.
Gas elevator installation diagram
To install a gas elevator you will need a drill, screwdriver, screwdriver, tape measure, ruler, hammer, pliers, pencil. First, measurements and marking of holes are carried out. You can place the mechanism on the cabinet walls in any way you like. Before installation, you should determine the opening angle of the doors: the closer the mounting point is to the front edge of the sidewall, the greater the door opening angle.
Gas elevators vary in size, technical characteristics, etc.

By fastening method.
- Using a spring clip. A simple method in which the device is mounted on the head of fasteners. This is done with one click, no special knowledge or tools are needed.
- Using a plate. The fastening is also not complicated, it is done with screws.
Renaissance wardrobe with folding front: KINVARO furniture lifts from GRASS
In modern furniture, along with conventional hinged doors, folding fronts are increasingly used. Designs with folding facades are usually located in an area located at eye level and above. These can be cabinets directly above the kitchen work area, above the sink or stove. In a living room or office, they are placed above a desk or TV. Sections with folding fronts have a mainly horizontally oriented shape. And if previously tall wall cabinets with high folding fronts dominated, today designers are increasingly giving preference to wide formats.
Lifting mechanism for folding doors KINVARO T-SLIM
T-SLIM is a completely new lift; it has no analogues either in the Russian or in the world market. The main advantage is that the lift body is recessed into the thickness of the sidewall and occupies only 2 mm inside the cabinet body. The decorative cap of the lift is installed almost flush with the surface of the sidewall. Surface mounting is also possible using special adapters. But even in the overhead version, KINVARO T-SLIM takes up only 14 mm. Two types of mechanisms are available: with soft closing (SoftClose) and with opening by pressing (Tipmatic). The mechanism can be used both with facades made of slab materials 16-32 mm thick, and with a frame profile. The open door can be fixed in two positions: 75 or 107°.

Kinvaro T-65 and T-71 - lifts for hinged doors
Another representative of the Kinvaro family from GRASS is the T-65 lift. Installed on doors 250 – 600 mm in height and up to 1200 mm in width, weighing up to 7.4 kg. When opening, the door is securely fixed in any position at an angle from 45° to 100°. Opening is very comfortable thanks to the spring opening mechanism. The spring force can be adjusted. Minor adjustment is also available for the door height due to the oval holes on the lift arm. The T-71 lift is more powerful; it can be installed on heavier facades weighing up to 8.5 kg. Opening angle - from 45° to 110°. The facade is mounted on clips without tools (Clip-on installation). For this lift, full door adjustment is available in three dimensions: vertically, horizontally and tilt angle.
Kinvaro F-20 folding lift mechanism
For high facades it is convenient to use horizontally folding doors consisting of two halves. For such doors, a whole collection of lifts has been developed, designed for different ranges of case sizes: 6 types of lifts for case heights from 600 to 900 mm and weights from 4.1 to 16.9 kg. The opening angle can be adjusted from 120° to 90°. F-20 is used for doors made of a wide variety of materials. Despite being used with heavy fronts, they are extremely easy to move and securely fixed in any position. Manufacturers have provided a system of ten adjustments that allow you to perfectly adjust the position of the facade.
Parallel opening lifts Kinvaro L-80
An interesting option is when the facade does not open at an angle, but moves forward, then rises parallel to the body. A similar option can be implemented using a vertical lift L-80. The lift can be used for doors made of a wide variety of materials and weights (from 2.5 to 8.5 kg), for example wood, glass, MDF, with wide and narrow frame profiles. The position of the facade can be adjusted in three planes: vertically, horizontally and tilt angle. This option is also good because it allows you to use cornices, overhead panels and hanging lamps. The facade rises and falls almost effortlessly and is securely fixed in any position. Spring force and damping can be adjusted.
Door opening lifts at an angle Kinvaro S-35
S-35 can be installed on facades weighing from 1.5 to 16 kg, the width of the facade should be from 450 to 1200 mm, height from 420 to 750 mm. The door is securely fixed in any position with an opening angle of 45°. As in the previous option, it is possible to use cornices and hanging lamps - they will not interfere with the movement of the lift.

Use the secrets of installing an elevator
The process takes literally a couple of minutes. Gas lift is usually used for upper modules, which makes opening easier. On the lower parts of the furniture, it plays the role of a lock when opening the door downwards. In order not to constantly adjust the façade, it is advisable to mount gas elevators on both sides.
Table for selecting the force of elevators for facades with an opening angle of 90°
The upper part of the device is usually mounted on the side of the box from the inside, 29 mm from the bottom of the top shelf, 37 mm from the edge of the side wall. Its length depends on the size of the furniture. The lower part is mounted to the facade at a distance from the end inside, which depends on the internal height of the cabinet:
- if the height is 190 mm, then the distance is 50 mm;
- at a height of 264 mm – distance 84 mm;
- if the height is 365 mm – the distance is 128 mm.
It turns out that the length of the bracket when open will be 164, 244 and 355 mm, respectively.
Installation of kitchen gas lift depending on size
The process of attaching the gas lift to the bed is also not difficult, giving many advantages:
- saves space;
- damping when closing;
- protects the base from premature destruction;
- has sufficient durability;
- provides safety and ease of use;
- The elevator is designed for approximately 20,000 folding and unfolding operations.
Gas lifts for a bed can be labeled 600-1200 Newton, depending on the weight of that piece of furniture. After installing the gas lift on the bed, you should check whether the lifting device works normally. If not, then correct it.
If it is discovered that the device does not hold the door, it means that the seal of the housing has been broken and the gas has escaped.
What are sliding mechanisms for sliding wardrobes?
The mechanism for sliding compartment doors is a single, carefully adjusted system. It consists of the following elements:
- Upper and lower guides (rails), which determine the trajectory of the doors.
- A set of upper and lower rollers, which ensure the movement of the facade along the lower or upper rail, and fix it in one plane, preventing it from falling forward or backward.
Various sliding mechanisms for sliding wardrobes can be supplemented with side profiles that replace the handle. As well as various accessories in order to make the design of the facade more interesting, with the ability to combine and securely fasten materials on sash of different thicknesses.
Also, some sliding mechanisms for sliding wardrobes can be supplemented with stoppers and closers for smoother and quieter movement of the sash and fixation in the closed state.
