Often it is thanks to furniture that the interior is filled with that desired cozy flavor that everyone dreams of. And if we are talking about a bedroom, first of all it concerns a spacious bed.
Today, hardly anyone can be surprised by a standard bed with a monotonous and boring headboard. And these are the ones that are most often found in furniture showrooms, advertisements, the media and popular magazines about interior design. However, do not despair - a forged bed will be an excellent alternative and an original choice at the same time. And there is a good reason for this, because such furniture is not only beautiful, but also practical. It will not serve you for a month, not a year, or even a dozen years. In fact, such a bed has no wear and tear.
We propose to take a closer look at the types of forged beds and stylistic solutions for bedrooms with their presence.
On a royal scale
Don't know what style to choose for your own bedroom? An excellent solution can be vintage, which tends to have an ancient flavor, which will always be relevant. By the way, they say that a bedroom reminiscent of a royal mansion is more conducive to pleasant, colorful dreams.
Allow yourself a little luxury: ornate patterned headboards slightly higher than standard ones, a few golden accents - and your relaxation area will not be much different from the majestic palace chambers.
The picture of luxurious landscaping can be complemented by warm or pastel discreet shades of the walls, fluffy beautiful carpets, sconces, antique-style candlesticks or mirrors in the antique spirit. And for greater persuasiveness, the same noble, stately dressing table would not hurt.
Manufacturing technology
There are two ways to make original beds for the bedroom. The parts are different, although in both cases the metal is heated to a certain temperature. The first method is cold forging or casting; a technology in which the finished product is obtained after cooling the workpiece.

Very often, casting is used in jewelry work, where precious metals are cooled, as well as in the manufacture of stairs. The process begins with the preparation of a prototype part (made of clay or plastic), based on which a casting mold is created. The hot (molten) metal is then poured into the mold. The cooled product is polished and finished.

Casting is a time-consuming and very labor-intensive process, including the creation of a sample and a casting mold. To melt metal, you need a powerful furnace. In general, cold forging is a resource-intensive process associated with risk for the craftsman, but in this way a large number of identical parts can be obtained.

In hot forging, the metal is heated to its plastic temperature, after which it can be deformed into the desired shape using a hammer and anvil. The finished product is polished and finished. Hot forging takes less time and there is no need for complex equipment.

The finished bed is painted with powder paints. If the style requires it, the surface is artificially aged; To do this, a gold patina or silver plating is applied to certain elements.

Snow airiness
Do you still associate forged furniture with something heavy, heavy, depressing and massive? The white color of the wrought-iron bed will convince you at first glance. This light snowy shade will turn absolutely any metal backrest into airy clouds striving for eternal weightlessness.
Metal beds
The first iron beds appeared many decades ago. Of course, then metal products were rare, therefore they were equated with luxury and wealth items, and were available only to those in power. Over time, new methods of metal processing appeared, and thanks to the development of metallurgy, iron beds became available to a wider range of people. Forged beds were replaced by analogues created using stamping.
Today, a metal bed is a wonderful interior decoration, as well as a symbol of reliability and durability. Their refined, sophisticated lines take us back to the times of knightly tournaments and balls. Smooth curves and lace patterns perfectly complement the interior and make you feel like someone of noble blood. Thanks to the openwork headboard, iron beds do not look bulky and massive; on the contrary, they carry a certain lightness.
Perfect composition
Showing individuality and special originality is bold and, of course, commendable. However, you also need to be careful with uniqueness and unusualness, because an ultra-stylish piece of furniture in your bedroom can cause confusion among guests and the thought “what is all this for?”, or even a completely disapproving look, silently saying, “too much.” In a classic standard interior, a wrought-iron bed with elegant patterns requires companions in the form of interior elements that harmonize with it.
It’s good when the forged ornateness will be set off in the same spirit by an armchair, bedside table, frame on a mirror or a small stand.
This type of bed fits perfectly into the classic style of the bedroom and gives it a European aristocracy.
Color range of beds with forging
Thanks to a certain shade of a wrought-iron bed, you can create a truly bright interior accent. For example, beige, gold or black colors are especially popular for these products, which have undeniable advantages, since such forging elements have a more defined and clear appearance, especially standing out against the background of light-colored bed linen, pillows and bedspreads.

White, gray or silver beds are particularly delicate and impressive, due to which these designs contribute to a luxurious and at the same time sophisticated transformation of space and are perfect for small rooms.
It is also quite common to use a more saturated color scheme or shades such as bronze and burgundy, which add a certain languor and nobility to the design.
Remembering childhood
We are all familiar with childhood houses built from scrap materials, huts made from sheets, blankets and chairs, which created a feeling of personal space, security and tranquility. As adults, we also care about home comfort, warmth, and tranquility. But how to create something that will remind us at least a little of childhood?
A wrought iron bed with vertical high elevations in the bedroom is an excellent option for this purpose. All that remains is to decorate your favorite bed with a light, beautiful fabric and get that same feeling of calm under the night cover and canopy.
Headboard options
This design element can be high, low, solid or openwork. A double bed with a metal headboard can have one solid backrest or two independent parts.
Stationary headboards are integral with the bed. Hanging elements are mounted on the wall above the bed and are more important as a decorative element.

Laconic simplicity
Sometimes being too creative and original when choosing a piece of furniture may not always be the best solution for your room. This also applies to the wrought iron bed in the bedroom. A classic shape, minimal decor, discreet color and a few graceful curves will be enough. After all, aesthetics often means simplicity, which brings maximum harmony to the interior.
Sizes and shapes
Common options for sizes and shapes.
Double
Allows you to correctly emphasize the purpose of the room and create a cozy and comfortable environment. Such a mandatory interior attribute should harmoniously complement the overall design, and not be dissonant with it.

One and a half truck
A universal option that fits perfectly into any environment. The semi-truck has a very convenient size, which, despite its compactness, is spacious enough for rest and sleep.
Round
Such a sleeping place will undoubtedly add solidity and status to the atmosphere and, due to the sophisticated forged elements, will look like a king.
Rectangular
The traditional rectangular model is the most familiar, practical and very convenient interior solution.

Corner
It is not only an excellent option for a small room, but is also considered a rather unusual and non-trivial furniture element. These designs with side backs are compactly located in the corner, do not take up extra space and allow you to free up the central part of the room.
In proud loneliness
A single bed is absolutely not inferior to a traditional double family bed, either in beauty or comfort. But it has a clear advantage that will definitely please the egoist living inside each of us. The fact is that your bedchamber remains only yours: there is no need to give in and share it with someone.
A luxurious forged model will expand your horizons regarding the choice of furniture and help you decide on such a difficult choice of the best place for your quality rest.
Pros of metal beds
Today, iron beds are made both by traditional forging and stamping. Of course, artistic forging is exclusive and handmade, which is quite expensive. But many serial iron beds are in no way inferior to forged ones, and sometimes even surpass them in their elegance. In addition to beautiful iron models, simple inexpensive beds are also made, which are usually used in hotels, hospitals, army barracks, hostels, camps and other public places.
Metal beds are very popular as they have many advantages.
- Firstly, they are highly durable and reliable. This is why many parents buy metal bunk beds for their children.
- Secondly, they are very convenient and have a lot of configurations.
- Thirdly, iron beds are environmentally friendly and do not emit or absorb any substances.
- Fourthly, they are very elegant, colorful and attractive. With their help you can emphasize the romantic, calm atmosphere of your bedroom.
- And fifthly, they are available to everyone. In stores you can find iron beds for every budget.
We combine the incompatible
Man and woman, yin and yang, emotions and reason, fire and water - opposites surround us everywhere. The interior is no exception in this regard. Here, designers often play with contradictory trends, materials and colors. Vivid evidence of this can be seen in the following photos.

Variety of shapes, designs
The most traditional and common shape remains the rectangular model. The advantages of such beds: it’s easy to choose furniture for any interior, many manufacturers, different prices (handmade products with complex patterns are not cheap).
Oval and round furniture look unconventional. It is better to appreciate the beauty of the design and ease of use in large rooms.
Special options are beds with canopies or stands for installing an alcove canopy.
Two-tier metal models can be stationary or mobile and are installed in children's rooms.

Methods for making forged beds
Forged beds are made mainly by two methods:
- Stamping;
- Handmade.
The price for stamped ones is several times lower, because they are produced faster and are not unique. During manual work, the master spends much more time, but the result is an exclusive, one might even say designer, product. It can be made according to customer's sketches.
The process itself is divided into several stages:
- Heating the blank (steel base). Gradually heat the stove until it reaches a dark red heat. At this stage, preheated material is placed in it. The last nuance is very important, since a cold blank from a sharp temperature difference in the outer and inner layers can give cracks and breaks, which will not be visually visible, but will make themselves felt during crimping. The material is heated to the maximum temperature (a separate threshold is established for metals of different hardness) and removed from the furnace.
- The next step will be crimping. Here the master begins to forge a blank. Ordinary people may assume that the metal inside has a dense structure, but in fact this is not the case. Microscopic cavities and “tunnels” are hidden under the top layer. You need to get rid of them, that is, “squeeze” the blank: press the heated material with a hammer.
- Preparation. Almost the final stage. During preparation, the blank is given the desired shape and adjusted to the required dimensions. The result is an almost finished product, but still with rough outlines. This process, in turn, is also divided into several types: preparation of rings, flat things, solid and hollow cylinders.
- Final finishing. At this stage, the product is finally adjusted to the sketch. It is cleaned of cracks, nicks and “bypassed” with a hammer again. At the same time, cold water is used to pour over the product. As a result, scale is formed, which has a positive effect on the smoothness of the surface. Finish the work by priming the surface and painting it.
When heated, scale forms on the surface of the blank. It partially falls off during crimping, and the rest is removed with a broom. Because of this layer, the blank loses a small part of its original size. For this reason, they take it a little more than the part they want to receive.
Types of beautiful products for bedroom interiors
Forged beds are divided into separate groups in accordance with several criteria . Next, we consider the main types of metal products , the characteristic features of furniture in each category, as well as a visual demonstration of samples.
Single and double
The main criterion for classifying beds is the number of beds : single and double. Products of the second group are the standard and therefore the most popular solution . The width of double beds varies from 160 to 200 cm, the length is 190-200 cm.
Single beds are less common; they most often complement children's rooms and apartments of people who live alone. Product dimensions: length – 200 cm, width about 120 cm.

Also, do not forget about single beds, which should be classified as double beds. They are not very convenient for accommodating two people, as they are smaller in size.
With soft and forged headboard
The wrought iron headboard is the main decorative element . The backrest is made in a similar design and color to the footboard, if present, which is not always the case. The overall style of the item depends on the design of the back . The headboard immediately draws attention to the bed and forms the first impression.

The style of the backrest determines how harmoniously the product will look in combination with other interior details. This is why a bed with a wrought-iron headboard is the preferred design option.

According to some customers, an all-metal backrest looks too uncomfortable. An alternative to a wrought iron headboard is a soft backrest . In practice, such headboards are a combined option , i.e. an element made of fabric or leather is complemented by a forged ornament.
Bed models that combine wood and forged metal parts . In such products, the wooden back is complemented by legs made of a similar material.
Rectangular and round shape
There are rectangular and round double wrought iron beds . Products of the first type are a standard solution, widely used in rooms of various designs.
Round-shaped furniture pieces have an unusual appearance; they add originality to the space, demonstrate the non-standard taste of the owners, and act as the central element of the room. Round beds are most often made to order , since during their manufacture the client’s preferences and technical features of the room should be taken into account.

The diameter of a round double bed should be about 2.3-2.5 m. Thus, such products are not suitable for small rooms. Owners who want to save space are advised to pay attention to bunk beds.
Bunk

Children's
For children's rooms, manufacturers also offer standard wrought-iron beds, i.e. with one level. A piece of furniture, painted soft pink and decorated with openwork, flowers, leaves, is an excellent solution for a girl’s room .

Forged children's cribs are especially magnificent . They have both a standard design, i.e. rectangular-shaped products with high sides, as well as atypical shapes, for example, a cradle.
Colors
Forged beds are made in various colors . Despite the absence of any restrictions, customers still prefer to choose products that have universal colors . Black, grey, brown, cream and white products suit different styles and colors of interiors. When ordering beds of non-standard colors, you should wisely select other furnishings.

With patina
Patination allows you to add unusualness and even greater beauty . Artificial aging of metal is the processing of an object, during which individual elements of the bed are covered with a thin layer of patina.

Cold and hot forging
The technology of working with metal directly affects the design and cost of the finished product. Hot forging involves preliminary preparation of metal parts, during which they are heated. Then begins the long and painstaking processing of the workpieces using a hammer and anvil, as well as using the knowledge and skills of the master. The artistic forging operations used by the performer allow the parts to be given various shapes and lines. The handiwork of the blacksmith is highly valued and is a guarantee of exclusive design.
A fairly affordable solution is beds made by cold forging of metal. This method does not require heating the workpieces; the performer immediately begins processing them. Using automatic and manually controlled equipment , as well as special templates, workpieces through bending and crimping . Finished products do not have a unique design, but despite this they are in demand.
Elements
In the production of beds and headboards, various elements of artistic forging are used:
- smooth and torsioned rods , acting as longitudinal and transverse lines, form a lattice, which is a laconic solution;
Forged back with scrolls, leaves and flowers
- curls - elements that are actively used to decorate various metal products and add delicacy to the design of the headboard;
- linings, decorating the headboards of beds, focus attention on the center of a symmetrical composition or its separate fragment;
Forged bed with shoots, leaves and flowers
- leaves allow you to give the product a special mood.
The beds are also complemented by other decorative details, it all depends on the designer’s vision and the client’s wishes. You should also consider the style of the room.
Graceful romance in curves
There are quite a few varieties of forged beds, but this does not stop inventive craftsmen. They regularly surprise us with new masterpieces. Such interior decoration items can be ordered according to your own drawing, in which case you will find a unique item for personal use.
Refined coils intertwined in patterns give the metal bed a lightness. Contemplating a modern forged bed, one cannot help but describe it as massive.
But such an ephemeral idea does not correspond to reality. This creation is characterized by increased strength and reliability, minimizing the fear of damaging it.
The bed will easily fit into a bedroom of any size, because it does not take up much space. If you need a laconic bed, you should choose a rectangular product, despite this, their severity and simplicity are quite conventional. But such circumstances do not deprive it of its unique charm.
In case you are really inclined to furnish the room with forged items, then carefully work out its design, and so thoroughly that not a single detail is left unattended; subsequently, all the details will play a picturesque role in creating a first-class interior.
First of all, before purchasing this bed, decide on its volume. It must match the size of your bedroom. This is a very important moment.
Powerful forged beds in the interior can decorate only spacious rooms, otherwise they will not look elegant. In a small room it is better to install a smaller bed.
