Varieties

The headboard of a furniture couch does not have a fixed shape, sometimes it is not provided at all. The frame is made of wood or metal. For upholstery, furniture fabrics or leatherette are used. In showrooms you can find fancy models upholstered in genuine leather; eco-leather is also popular.

Couches are made stationary and folding. Transformers in the form of chairs are equipped with built-in compartments, retractable or roll-out storage systems. In such a sofa-couch you can put away bedding for the day, a good option for a small room.

This is a very beautiful, delicate element of the interior, which was used in their homes by wealthy people, aristocracy, and nobles.

Some modifications are equipped with adjustable base height, have armrests, something like a backrest. The couch has long become a universal piece of furniture, valued for its small format and the possibility of comfortable relaxation. A couch is a compact sofa designed for one person. Depending on the model. it may look like a sun lounger, chaise longue, or bench.

Styles

Since the couch is most often used as an additional element of furniture, its design and colors should be combined as much as possible with the color scheme and style in which the room is designed. For example:

The classic style model is most often found due to its versatility. It is made in a laconic design and discreet, calm colors (white, sand, coffee). Fancy curved legs and a beautifully shaped back or armrest are used as decorations;

The Baroque style has always been famous for its slight pretentiousness, excessive luxury and splendor. Such couches are most often made in beautiful, noble colors (blue, wine, emerald); velvet, velor and other beautiful materials are used for upholstery. Golden fringe and tassels are used as decoration;

Modern style implies practicality and ease of use. The design is usually as laconic as possible, modern materials are used for production, decorative pillows can be used as decoration;

Delicate, noble French Provence style combines a simple, modest design, smooth lines and light pastel colors

Usually the product does not have armrests or a pronounced headboard;

The light, unobtrusive country style does not like excessive pretentiousness and pomp, prefers natural materials and chooses practical, discreet colors.

Peculiarities

The couch is a multifunctional piece of furniture. It resembles a small sofa intended for relaxation. Outwardly, it looks like a simple single bed made of wood and is quite comfortable to rest on after dinner.

Some people install such furniture items in the garden during the summer.

A daybed is often used as a sofa or armchair. You can lie down or sit on it with your legs extended. It can be installed in a spacious hallway to make it comfortable to put on your shoes . Moreover, it can completely replace a massage table.

Tip : The couch will look good in the bedroom. You can store pillows and blankets on it.

As for the design features of the couches, they differ:

  • simplicity and reliability;
  • wide range of applications;
  • a flat horizontal bed with a soft mattress;
  • adjustable upper backrest.

The ideal option is to manufacture a collapsible structure .
This model is suitable for those who transport furniture with them to the dacha. This piece of furniture is characterized by its compact size and ergonomics, simple design and ease of manufacture. Even a beginner in carpentry can handle its assembly. A special feature of the model is that its upper bars are inclined, which increases comfort in operation.

Blueprints

Before you start work, you need to decide what the structure will be and draw up a drawing of it. Before choosing the dimensions of the furniture, you need to decide where it will be installed and accurately measure the room. An important parameter is the size of the mattress that will be laid on the finished product.

If the design is planned to be retractable or folding, then you need to take into account how much space the ottoman will take up when unfolded.

It is important to leave some extra space. For example, if the size of the mattress is 1400x2000 mm, then the dimensions of the frame should be 2-3 mm larger, which will allow the mattress to be conveniently placed in the base

The ottoman bed is a simple design. This is a rectangular sleeping place that consists of a frame, bottom, legs and headboard. If desired, you can also model the side border, thus turning a simple ottoman into a corner one.

Having a drawing of the model and dimensions, it is necessary to develop an assembly diagram - the sequence of interconnection of structural elements. You can look at ready-made assembly diagrams for similar products and adapt them to your own.

Couch - design features

The rigid base on which the mattress is located is an ottoman, the simplest couch. If you make it wide enough and, moving it close to the wall, add pillows, you will get an ottoman. A narrowed shortened model - a banquette. When the ottoman is equipped with a lifting headboard, a canape appears. There are many more varieties of couches that come with armrests and even backrests. But the 4 above are the most attractive from the point of view of a novice master. Their design is extremely simple, so to make furniture you only need to navigate the materials and tools.

Choosing material

Nothing beats the durability of furniture whose frame is made of metal. But to work with this material you need special tools, a separate room and skills in working with equipment. The wooden frame can be assembled directly in the room where you plan to place the couch.

There are several types of source material of this type.

Chipboard laminate completely imitates the structure of wood, and the board itself is light and easy to use. The advantages include low cost. Disadvantages include:

  • harmful additives that may be released into the air;
  • low strength;
  • fragility;
  • a small number of color options.

Furniture board is not inferior in strength to solid wood. The number of harmful additives in its production is reduced to a minimum, which makes it safe. But the high cost of the material deprives making a couch with your own hands one of the advantages - saving the family budget.

Solid wood is strong and durable. If you are looking for the optimal price-quality ratio, then you should pay attention to pine.
Lightweight and quite durable, it lends itself to any processing without loss of properties.

Tips for reupholstering

If you decide to install a ready-made mattress on the couch, then it will be enough to simply cover it. But when a master decides to do all the work himself, a few simple tips will come in handy.

NOTE. A slab of foam rubber or other filler is cut with a small margin. A protrusion of 1–2 centimeters above the outer edge of the frame is necessary to ensure that the upholstery is not damaged in the place of constant contact with a solid base.

The secret to good quality fabric draping is to move from the center to the edge. To do this, the material is first fixed on one long side of the base. Then they tighten and fix it in the center of the opposite side and move from this point to the edge. Then the upholstery is fixed on the sides of the base. And at the very end, fold and secure the corners of the fabric. By following the sequence of steps, you will be able to create a comfortable and durable couch. And to add beauty to it, just use the accessories stored in advance.

What is it made of: wood or chipboard?

You can make a couch from different materials:

  • boards;

  • pallets;
  • timber;
  • MDF;
  • Chipboard.

Everyone chooses the option that is most suitable for them.

Advice : experts recommend giving preference to natural wood. Exotic breeds are rarely used here because of their price.

Most often, inexpensive wood is chosen for the manufacture of couches:

  • Birches . It is distinguished by its beautiful white shade, ease of processing, interesting texture, durability and resistance to negative factors.
  • Pines . It has a beautiful shade and texture and is inexpensive. During its entire lifespan, needles emit a pleasant aroma that has a beneficial effect on human health.
  • Linden trees . The material paints well, sands well and has a beautiful texture. Due to the softness of the wood, there should be no problems with cutting out parts.

Preparatory stages

How to make an ottoman? Making an ottoman consists of three main stages:

  1. Frame production;
  2. Volume filling with foam rubber;
  3. Furniture upholstery.

Before starting production, you need to stock up on all the necessary accessories. To combine the interior and dimensions of the ottoman, a diagram is drawn up. The dimensions directly depend on the size of the purchased mattress, because it is simply impossible to make a high-quality mattress with your own hands. List of materials:

  • boards, bars, plywood;
  • foam;
  • padding polyester;
  • textile;
  • buttons for decoration.

You can make legs for this type of furniture yourself, or you can buy them in specialized stores. There are various stores that supply accessories from domestic and foreign manufacturers. But the choice of fabric for upholstery needs to be taken very seriously. After all, the color and quality of the fabric determines how harmoniously the ottoman will complement the interior of the apartment. The selected fabric should be easy to clean and not deform under mechanical stress.

Benefits of self-assembly

Anyone with at least minimal knowledge regarding the furniture industry can construct a simple model of an ottoman sofa. A homemade sofa has many advantages. Firstly, it will cost much less than purchasing new furniture in a store. Secondly, during the operation of the ottoman you will not have to worry about its quality, since the master independently selects all the material necessary for the work.

It is worth noting that when creating a homemade sofa, you have the opportunity to choose the sizes and shapes of the furniture, taking into account the dimensions of the room. In such a homemade sofa, it is easy to change the upholstery, choosing the most suitable color option for the interior of the room.

Choosing material

Modern ottomans and couches are relatively simple designs, which makes it possible to make them yourself. To get high-quality and durable furniture, you should choose the right material for the product. Today, several types of products are used for such work:

  1. Laminated chipboard. The material is simple and low in price. You can purchase these products at almost any hardware store. The main disadvantages of chipboard are considered to be low strength and a minimum number of color options. It should also be noted that the structure of the slab contains harmful substances that can be released into the air.
  2. Furniture board. It is made only from natural materials, which reduces the presence of components harmful to humans. Furniture panels can be compared in strength to solid wood. One of the main disadvantages of such a product is its high price, which slows down its distribution in hardware stores.
  3. Array. Their natural board ottoman is strong and durable. If the size of the couch is small, then the array is the best option in terms of price and quality ratio.

Also, to build such furniture you will need a lot of auxiliary materials:

  1. Wooden beam. It is used to fasten joining parts. Sometimes horizontal struts or supporting surfaces are formed using a block.
  2. Finishing fabric. There are no universal recommendations here, since you can choose this product to suit your taste in any specialized store. Very often flock or chenille are used for this.
  3. Filler. Various types of foam rubber or padding polyester are used as this product.
  4. Additional accessories. They are used for decorative finishing of the ottoman. This may include special fasteners, threads for lining, buttons, etc.

Drawing

To make a high-quality piece of furniture, you will need to make a preliminary drawing with a detailed designation of all sizes, number of parts and methods of fastening. It will depend on the availability of the drawing whether you will be able to make a couch with your own hands the first time or not .

Attention : when making a couch, it is worth taking into account the dimensions of the future mattress. Experts recommend purchasing a mattress first, and then starting to draw up a drawing.

You can make a drawing in different ways. Some prefer to draw it by hand on paper. But for this you need to be able to calculate dimensions and be able to draw up drawings. Others turn to specialized companies. They will not only make a detailed diagram, but also prepare all the details according to size. Someone finds a suitable option on the Internet and prepares furniture according to a sketch already made by someone.

Each individual option has its own advantages.

Dimensions and drawings

It’s not difficult to make a massage table with your own hands; you just need to decide on the size of the device and its design. Naturally, the parameters can be adjusted. Standard indicators:

  1. Width. It can fluctuate between 50-80 cm. If the tabletop is too narrow, it will be uncomfortable for the patient, who may relax and fall. If the width is too large, the massage therapist will get tired faster. The optimal indicator is 70-76 cm. If the product is narrow, then it is additionally equipped with armrests.
  2. Length. The size ranges from 184-200 cm. The optimal figure is 185 cm. A person should fit on the table at full height so that the legs or head do not hang over the edge.
  3. Height. The optimal value in this case is 55-85 cm. Each massage therapist can adjust this parameter to suit their needs.

Making a table yourself will cost less than purchasing it from a specialized store. But before you start assembling, you need to draw a layout and drawing. It indicates all the details and their dimensions in millimeters. Fastening elements must be drawn. Ready-made drawings can be found in the public domain and, if necessary, adapted to your needs.

Tools

To make a couch you will need the following tools:

  • drill;

  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • screwdrivers;
  • sander;
  • Ruler and pencil.

Materials required:

  • boards;
  • nails;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • glue;
  • stain;
  • paints and varnishes.

You will learn about the intricacies of the work from our article.

How to make a couch with your own hands?

DIY wooden couch
Please note that all wooden elements must be sanded with sandpaper, painted, and then varnished. Therefore, immediately decide on the desired color of the future product. When the first layer of varnish has dried, you can sand the parts again - all the small chips sticking out will harden and will be easy to get rid of.

Wooden couch with a soft mattress and a lifting part for ease of procedures

If you want to give the product softness, use a universal and cheap material as a filler - foam rubber. Choose a medium level of hardness, since too soft will sag, and hard will cause discomfort. Cut the foam rubber a few centimeters more - it must be secured to the bottom of the parts to prevent premature wear of the upholstery.

Foam rubber for softness

To make it easier to sheathe the product, follow this procedure: first fix it in a loose state to one long side of the part, then pull it and fasten it from the center of the opposite side to the edges. Follow the same sequence with short ends.

The process of securing upholstery fabric in corners

The best option for the headboard lifting mechanism would be a stepped fixation, popular in models of old folding beds.

Headboard lifting mechanism – step fixation

Please note that the device for a sofa or ottoman will not work in this case - due to the small size of the lever, you will have to make a lot of effort to lower the headboard.

You can choose a two-position headboard, the operation of which is ensured by gas microlifts with a force of 40N-80N.

Legs made of timber for a future couch

For the legs of the structure, cut the block into pieces of 50 centimeters, for the remaining parts you need to prepare plywood with the following parameters:

  • for the bed 170cm*70cm;
  • on the headboard 38cm*70cm;
  • two long drawers 200cm*17cm;
  • four short drawers 56cm*17cm.

Short drawers are fixed between long ones. For long ones, do everything the same way, but in a plane with a diameter of 8 mm. Place one short drawer at a distance of 40 centimeters from the headboard.

The legs are attached using 4*60 self-tapping screws. To avoid the formation of cracks in the wood, drill holes with a diameter of 5 mm in the drawers, and 2.5 mm in the legs.

We fasten the legs with self-tapping screws

Along the perimeter of the box, except for the headboard, screw the corners to secure the bed. If the couch is equipped with gas shock absorbers, attach them as well, following the included user manual.

Screw the stock to the corners of the box, retreating 5 centimeters from the foot and on the sides. Install the butterfly loops at the headboard, then place them in a lowered, horizontal position under the bed and secure them. All that remains is to fix the counter part of the gas lifts and the couch is ready with your own hands.

Making a massage table. Step-by-step instruction

Assembling the tabletop

We begin work on creating a massage table with the tabletops. From plywood we cut out two identical ones measuring 600x900 mm. In one of them, using a jigsaw, we cut out a piece of plywood so that we get an oval-shaped hole measuring 180x120 mm.

Drawings for making a massage table top

Next we move on to assembling the frame. The frames must exactly match the size of the plywood. You need to connect the beams together with self-tapping screws (45 mm), having previously drilled holes for them. This action will protect the timber from cracking. We screw the plywood to the frame with 20 mm long screws.

For convenience, we cover the resulting parts with foam rubber and the fabric chosen for this. You should start with foam rubber. Having cut out the necessary pieces to the size of the plywood, we fix it with glue on the tabletop. If part of the foam protrudes somewhere, it should be cut off using a stationery knife. We upholster the resulting workpiece with leather or its substitute using a stapler. You should start with the long sides, then move on to the short ones, keeping a distance of 10 cm between the staples. On each tabletop, on the short part, the fabric should be secured to the side, and not under the tabletop. This is where the hinges will be attached.

Place for attaching hinges on one of the short sides of each tabletop

Legs for massage table

Using a hacksaw or jigsaw, it is necessary to cut sets of blanks 885, 695 and 555 mm from the timber. We make the first two supports by taking 2 beams 885 mm and 1,555 mm, fixing them with an overlap. Distance to cross beam 760 mm. We cut the ends of the long beams with a jigsaw at an angle of 41 degrees. The angle may be more obtuse, but the same on all supports.

Drawing of legs for a massage table

The second two parts need to be assembled into a wooden floor from 2 bars 695 mm and 1,555 mm. We cut the ends of the assembled part at a 30 degree angle and connect both parts using loops. We check how well it works, whether there is any friction. In order not to overweight the hinges, they should first be attached to the central screw, and only after checking should they be screwed in completely.

We connect the supports and fasten them with screws

We screw the timber legs to the frame

Use a pencil to mark the places where the leg loops are attached. We check the build quality and screw it to the table with self-tapping screws. It is also necessary to secure the tabletop with 4 hinges on the hinges.

Spacer for a homemade massage table

To make the spacer, we will use a 1060 mm timber, sawn into two parts, connected by a loop. Attach with loops to the beam in the middle between the legs, sticking to the middle. The length is selected individually. The height of the table directly depends on this value. You need to choose it individually depending on your height.

How to make a couch with your own hands

When decorating interiors, an element for a comfortable stay is often missing. In this case, a small sofa or couch will save the situation. It’s difficult to find the right option in a furniture store; it’s easier to make a sofa-ottoman with your own hands from lumber, which is always available in any construction market.

A distinctive feature is the absence of a backrest. Has one/two armrests or without them.

The first step is to make a drawing. It is enough to schematically outline the frame design in two projections and determine the main dimensions. For clarity, it’s a good idea to make a three-dimensional drawing.

A schematic drawing will help you select materials in the required volume, facilitate the process of preparing frame elements, and simplify the assembly of the structure. To determine the dimensions, it is better to arm yourself with a metal tape measure and thoroughly measure the empty space so that the finished furniture fits successfully.

The couch, like other furniture, is made of strong, durable, practical and durable materials.

Features and design of the couch

It is not necessary to make an ottoman couch, there are many other options. You can assemble a bed for the kitchen from cabinets and add a mattress to them. A DIY sofa couch is a modification with armrests and a small backrest.

Metal and wood are most often used to make the frame part.

When thinking over your version of upholstered furniture, you need to decide:

  • make armrests or do without them;
  • completely sew up the sides or limit yourself to a small strip for the armrest;
  • do you need a backrest or will it be replaced by pillows (this depends on where the couch is installed);
  • you immediately need to decide on which legs the furniture will stand, there are a lot of options: square or with a bevel made of bars or ready-made from wood or metal;
  • How the frame will be draped, you can make the bed and all the elements bordering the base soft.

It is advisable to immediately think about what the storage systems will look like. The simplest option is boxes equipped with wheels; they are easier to install than crossbar structures.

A wooden couch is an excellent option for a hallway, bedroom or children's room.

The design of the future couch is thought out in relation to the rest of the furniture, taking into account the functionality of the room. For a kitchen or hallway, a small couch-ottoman with drawers is more suitable. For a living room or children's room, it is better to make an ottoman with legs.

As a filler for seats or armrests, two main groups are mainly used: with and without springs.

When the wall decoration is prone to abrasion and is not designed for frequent contact, you will need a backrest and armrests that limit contact. If the wall decoration allows, you can limit yourself to pillows.

The upholstery for the couch can be leather (natural or artificial), suede, velor, velvet, microfiber and other fabrics.

Required materials and tools

The frame is formed from 50x50 bars. It is better to purchase them in advance and keep them for a month at home, turning them periodically. Then the wood will dry to optimal humidity without deformation. Plywood is suitable for the sides, drawers, and back, but it is better to purchase furniture panels. They are made from various types of trees. You can choose products with a beautiful texture, which can be simply emphasized with stain and varnish.

Regardless of what material was chosen for the frame, it would be useful to further strengthen the structure of the couch.

You will need hardware, fasteners, and the frame is additionally reinforced with metal corners or plywood triangles. It is advisable to purchase foam rubber and fabric for drapery immediately, taking into account the format of the draped elements.

To work you will need:

  • roulette;
  • marker for marking;
  • ruler with corner;
  • a jigsaw for cutting board or plywood; it can be replaced with a hacksaw with frequent small teeth;
  • sandpaper or sander;
  • drill-driver with a set of drills, bit attachments;
  • screwdrivers;
  • hardware;
  • stapler for fastening foam rubber and fabric.

To create a reliable furniture frame you will need a set of tools.

Note! When choosing furniture panels, it is better to give preference to hardwood with dense wood. Of the coniferous species, the best option is pine. It has fewer knots than spruce, and the wood is not as loose as fir.

Detailing

For ease of assembly, detailing is carried out, each element of the future structure is drawn separately. Detailing will help:

  • identify identical parts and their quantity;
  • provide the necessary fasteners;
  • think over the installation process, the sequence of connecting elements;
  • calculate the required materials for each type separately.

Assembling the frame is half the battle. In addition, it is necessary to take care of the sufficient comfort and aesthetics of the couch.

Important! Do not neglect detailing; this procedure will eliminate unnecessary costs for purchasing materials and speed up assembly, because everything you need will be at hand.

Step-by-step instruction

The process of assembling a wooden couch is quite simple:

  1. First, the prepared lumber is marked and sawn to the desired format.
  2. The parts for the base are folded separately, as are the frame elements.
  3. Start sanding the wood, gradually reducing the grain size of the abrasive nozzle or sandpaper. Remove burrs, straighten the edges, and achieve the desired smoothness.
  4. After grinding, the frame is first assembled, then the base is formed.
  5. The finished structure is additionally sanded and the joints are cleaned.
  6. They begin finishing work: painting, varnishing.

Wooden couches made of wenge, oak, walnut, ash and other types of wood will serve you for several decades.

Some craftsmen prefer to paint and varnish individual structural elements, and then begin assembly. To ensure a smooth surface, after the first coat of paint, fine fluffy wood fibers are removed with fine sandpaper. Instead of paint, you can use stain; it will give the wood the necessary shade.

Note! It is advisable to pre-treat the wood with a special impregnation; it is better to choose a universal one that protects against fungi and fire.

How to reupholster a couch

Sometimes, to create a full-fledged piece of furniture, it is enough to give the existing frame softness. In this case, medium-hard foam rubber will become a full-fledged filler. Too soft will immediately sag. The plate is cut according to the format, making allowances on all sides from 3 to 5 cm on the bends. The filler is fixed at the bottom so that the edge does not cause discomfort.

If you decide to install a ready-made mattress on the couch, then it will be enough to simply cover it.

After fixing the foam rubber, they begin decorating with fabric or leatherette.

The secret of drapery is simple: the fabric is pulled from the center to the edges of the frame. First, the upholstery is fixed along one longitudinal side; it is better to start from the front part of the structure. Then it is secured with tension on the opposite side. Again they start from the center and move towards the ends. They are draped last. The ends of the drapery are securely fixed and the excess is cut off.

By following the sequence of steps, you will be able to create a comfortable and durable couch.

By following the sequence of steps, it is easy to turn a hard frame into a soft, comfortable couch for the kitchen or nursery. For decoration, use accessories or buttons, and complement the model with pillows made of drapery fabric.

An elegant wooden couch fits perfectly into an interior designed in a classic, modern or oriental style.

Step-by-step instruction

  • Before starting work, you need to prepare all the tools and materials that you will need to create high-quality furniture. Coniferous boards must have a flat and smooth surface and be the same size. All tools must be in good working order, and the cutting parts must first be sharpened.
  • The production of parts begins with the side parts. The slats have spikes at their ends, so there must be special grooves in the center of the boards. Wooden spacers should have a length equal to the distance between the slats. Their thickness corresponds to the width of the groove, and their height corresponds to the depth of the groove. Before joining the parts, they need to be treated with glue.

  • The parts must be of such dimensions that they will allow other components to fit in with some effort. Having assembled the sidewalls, they need to be pressed. After this, you should let them dry thoroughly.
  • All four blanks are made according to the same principle. They dry for several hours. The joints of the boards should be located in the same plane.
  • To make the legs, a template is used, according to which the necessary parts are cut out. The cut needs to be sanded and the edges slightly rounded. You can check the correctness of the cut legs by connecting them together and fitting them to one measurement.

The back is made in the same way as the rest of the structure.

However, it is important to remember that the upper parts are attached at a slight angle, and the lower slats must have a right angle slope. Having assembled all the parts of the structure and made sure that they are of high quality, you need to start attaching the metal elements

They are needed so that the product can be folded and unfolded. Typically, the couch is subject to heavy loads, so the places where the screws are attached need to be further strengthened. To do this, glue is poured into the holes and wooden dowels are inserted. After this, screw in the screws. This method of strengthening the structure guarantees a long “life” of the product.

Decorating the product

Unusual rope daybed-bed

For decoration, you can only use paints and varnishes, various synthetic ones, microfiber, dermantin or velor - it all depends on your taste and budget. Synthetic upholstery retains its color and shape for a long time, but it tends to electrify and attract dust.

Massage couch with wooden legs and soft upholstery

The couch will have an interesting appearance if you drill holes in the plywood and tighten the filler with nylon thread. The holes will be hidden with the help of beautiful buttons covered with matching fabric.

Using the couch for relaxation, massage and treatments

Criterias of choice

A couch for eyelash extensions is a purchase for more than one year. The physical condition of the master and his client and the positive atmosphere during the procedures depend on it.

When purchasing this attribute, many criteria must be taken into account:

  • frame material – metal is more durable, and wood is lighter;
  • the coating is pleasant to the touch, making it possible to periodically treat it with disinfectants;
  • number of adjustable sections - it must be remembered that the device is easier to adjust to a short client if it has 3 sections. In fact, the 3-section couch is suitable for all types of clients;
  • Convenient tilt and height adjustment;
  • the presence of a retractable shelf or table in the area of the master’s workplace, where he can place the necessary materials;
  • the location of the legs in the headboard area should be away from the end edge so that the master can sit comfortably;

  • the presence of an orthopedic pillow that increases the client’s comfort.

Finishing

There are several options for finishing the couch:

  • coat with clear varnish;

  • paint;
  • treat with stain.

The choice depends on the interior of the room and personal preferences. As noted earlier, during finishing, all elements are carefully sanded, irregularities are removed, and the surfaces are wiped with a napkin.

When choosing paint, it is recommended to give preference to proven and high-quality materials that do not emit toxins and do not have a strong odor . All this work will extend the life of the furniture item and give it a finished and aesthetic appearance.

Which one is better to buy?

The choice of couch depends on a number of factors:

  • the purpose of the purchase is for home visits, which means a folding model, or for work in a salon, where an awkward attribute is suitable;
  • availability of sufficient space for the selected stationary equipment;
  • a set of useful properties: functionality, comfort, quality;

What functions does a couch or cosmetology table perform in the sugaring procedure?

Tasks of the sugaring table/chair:

  • Client comfort The client spends about an hour on the cosmetology table/chair. If he experiences discomfort at the same time, he may not return to you. A good couch, on the contrary, allows you to take a comfortable position, relax and even rest during the procedure.
  • Convenience of the master Tables can be stationary, portable, height-adjustable, etc. When purchasing a multifunctional design, all that remains is to adjust its position to suit your height, thus reducing the load on your back and arms. For the convenience of working on the go, you can use a folding table.
  • Speed of procedure During hair removal, you need to be first on one side, then on the other, of the client, bend over, reach the necessary areas or a table with details. A comfortable couch allows you to save time on unnecessary manipulations.
  • Attitude of clients The attitude of clients towards you as a master is more serious if you receive them not on a sofa, but on a cosmetology table.

Making blanks

If the couch is intended for a person who has problems with his back, it is better to make it taller than a standard sofa. First you need to make preparations:

  • legs;
  • box;
  • headboards;
  • frame elements.

Legs

If you want your product to be tall enough, cut the timber into 50 cm pieces. But, of course, the legs can be longer or shorter. The main thing is that they are absolutely the same in length. Otherwise, the height will have to be adjusted on the finished product, and this is extremely inconvenient.

Bed

It is better to mark the sheet of plywood for the headboard and for the bed at once. For the bed you need a rectangle 170x70 cm, for the headboard - 38x70 cm.

Important! The dimensions may be different - if, for example, you have a very tall person in your family, a sleeping place a little more than two meters long may not be enough for him. But make sure that the width of the bed and headboard are the same.

Tsargi

Drawers are the most important elements of any furniture. In this case there are six of them:

  • 2 long;
  • 4 short.

Both are made from the same plywood. The long ones measure 200x17 cm, the short ones – 56x17 cm.

Preparing the details

In order for the couch in the hallway with your own hands to be in its place, a lot needs to be done. First you need to process all the details:

  1. Clean and sand all wooden parts, except those that will have upholstery, with sandpaper.
  2. Saturate them with stain to give them a beautiful color.
  3. Coat the parts with furniture varnish.

Important! You need to coat each part with varnish twice - let the first layer dry, sand it again, and then apply the second layer.

We cut the foam rubber

Foam rubber is often sold in large sheets - this is exactly what you need. Cut out 2 parts - for the bed and for the headboard.

Important! Be sure to leave enough allowance to fold the pad under the bottom of the bed and headrest. If you don't do this, the upholstery will constantly come into contact with the wooden parts and will quickly wear out.

Upholstering the bed

Cut out 2 rectangles - the allowances should be such that you can fold the fabric onto the back side of the product and fold it.

Important! Don't be afraid to leave too much; the excess can be trimmed off later, although this is not necessary.

We do the work:

  1. Nail the long edge of the upholstery to the long side of the couch without pulling.
  2. Pull the fabric towards the middle of the opposite long side.
  3. Nail it in the middle.
  4. Gradually pull and nail towards the corners.
  5. In the same order, attach the upholstery along the short sides.
  6. Trim off excess at corners.
  7. Cover the headrest in the same way.

Assembly

When all the parts have been processed, you can begin assembly:

  1. In the short drawers at the ends, drill holes for 5 mm confirmation screws.
  2. In long drawers, drill the same holes in the planes, diameter – 8 mm.
  3. Install the short drawer at a distance of 40 cm from the headrest attachment point.
  4. Assemble the frame.
  5. Drill holes in the drawers for the self-tapping screws that will fasten the legs – diameter 5 mm.
  6. Drill 2.5mm holes in the legs.
  7. Secure the legs.
  8. Screw the corners around the perimeter of the frame - this does not need to be done where the headrest will be.
  9. Screw the bed to the corners.
  10. Place butterfly hinges at the junction of the bed and headboard.
  11. Install the headboard height adjuster.

The good thing about an ottoman is that it looks quite presentable during the day, and at night it turns into a comfortable sleeping bed. The stores are full of similar products, you can choose any color and size. But if you want something exclusive, and your skillful hands miss the work, then why not build it yourself. For yourself or for your children. And at the same time you will be able to save money.

First of all, you need to decide what design the planned couch will have. Does it need a backrest (or maybe two), what height will the legs be, is it supposed to have a device. Well, other nuances need to be taken into account. Depending on the model, the amount of materials and their type are calculated.

However, as a rule, either wood boards or furniture panels are used to make the frame of an ottoman. The first option is cheaper, and the second is better in terms of strength and environmental friendliness. You will also need wooden blocks, steel furniture corners, and screws to connect the parts.

As for the tool, you should prepare:

  • sharpened simple pencil for marking;
  • tape measure, ruler, square;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • screwdriver (or screwdriver);
  • furniture (construction) stapler for fastening upholstery.
