Wardrobe with a mirror - wisely select and place mirrored cabinets in the interior of an apartment or house

What are doors for wardrobes with mirrors made of?

Mirror doors for wardrobes are made from the following parts:

  • vertical profiles;
  • brush for the end of the vertical profile;
  • horizontal top and bottom profiles;
  • connecting profile and seal (if the door is made of several parts or using 2 materials);
  • rollers;
  • rails;
  • stopper;
  • . mirror. .

Attention. To make mirrors and glass safer for use, manufacturers of sliding wardrobes stick a special self-adhesive film on the back side. Do not rip it off under any circumstances!

Depending on the customer’s wishes, the following mirror can be used:

For small or dark rooms, a clear mirror without additional shades is best. It will visually enlarge the room and make it more spacious. Shades of graphite and bronze make the room a little darker, so they are suitable only where there is enough daylight and a well-designed lighting system. Before choosing a mirrored wardrobe, be sure to objectively evaluate the room where it will be located.

Decorating a mirror

Mirror doors for sliding wardrobes can be made not just from pure material, but also with additional decorative finishing:

  1. Sandblasting.
    This is done using high-pressure sand jets from a special apparatus. Thanks to this, the surface of the glass or mirror becomes matte and the design specified by the designer is visible on it.
  2. Chemical etching.
    Performed using a special liquid or paste-like substance with hydrofluoric acid. The mirror or glass turns out matte, with a slight surface roughness. Application is carried out using a stencil.
  3. Colored vinyl film.
    You can make an interesting pattern on the facade of a sliding wardrobe from any materials using vinyl film of one or several colors. You can apply this decoration with your own hands. Vinyl film is a strong and durable material that can be removed at any time to replace the design with a new one, if such a desire arises.

Where to install a mirrored wardrobe and tips for choosing

Where do you most often need mirrors? Of course, in the bathroom, hallway and dressing room or bedroom. That is why designers recommend installing custom-made mirrored wardrobes in these rooms.

To ensure that your new wardrobe is a successful purchase, adhere to the following rules for choosing this piece of furniture:

  1. Size. In order not to make a mistake in the size, call a specialist from the company that will manufacture and install your cabinet. This service is usually free. The master will take into account all your wishes regarding the arrangement of furniture in the room, give advice on materials and show on the spot all the nuances of a particular cabinet location and type of construction.
  2. Consider the location of storage systems: shelves, drawers, rods and hooks. This is especially true in cases where the cabinet will have more than one user. Storage systems should be located taking into account their growth.
  3. Order with reserve. Today, a small closet may be enough for you, but over the years the number of things only grows. It’s better to have some shelves empty for the first few years than to have to order another cabinet later.

Modern wardrobe in the hallway with a mirror

Properties

Sliding wardrobes with mirrors have a huge number of advantages that push people to buy them. It is worth noting the fact that such a piece of furniture helps to save space in an already cramped room due to sliding doors. They slide apart neatly on different sides, but if we talk about swing models, then the doors open outward, and therefore their placement must be approved taking into account the occupied space. Spacious pieces of furniture make it possible to store quite a lot of things inside. Modern furniture showrooms and stores offer to independently arrange the interior space of the wardrobe, and therefore all hangers, shelves and drawers are placed at the request of the customer. If the ceiling height allows, then mezzanines can be placed at the top.

The universal design of such models makes it possible to integrate them into any interior, and mirror surfaces can be decorated with ornaments in order to give a more attractive appearance. The versatility of such a closet is due to the ability to put not just shoes and clothes inside, but also other important household items. Since the model is equipped with a built-in mirror, the owner will not need to spend additional money on separate wardrobes/chests. In addition to everything else, mirror surfaces will visually increase the space, which is extremely beneficial for small hallways. Another undeniable advantage of having mirrors is the ability to shoot fashionable looks for Instagram stories. A sliding wardrobe makes it possible to zone a room, for example, a dining room from a kitchen or a hallway and a living room. At the moment, furniture stores offer a wide range of models with different prices, and therefore each buyer will be able to choose the ideal option to suit their taste and budget.

But there are still some disadvantages. Regular closing and opening of doors will weaken the structure, and after a couple of years (subject to careless operation) the wheels will begin to fall out of the frame. Another noticeable disadvantage will be the constant fingerprints on both the mirror and the frame. Housewives have to constantly clean large surfaces from prints, which soon appear again, and even more so in cases where there are small children at home.

Types of designs

When purchasing mirrored sliding wardrobes, it is first important to pay attention to the type of design, which will greatly simplify the further choice.

Built-in

Built-in wardrobes with a mirror in the hallway are installed in a niche previously prepared for it. This allows the cabinet to better blend with the interior. The advantage of this model was the opportunity to save on buying walls and buy only mirrored doors, as well as shelves as internal filling. It will be enough to install everything in a niche, and then you can use the furniture with pleasure. If you wish, you can decorate the external walls in the niche and the mirror in the same style, decorating them with patterns using sandblasting, decorative films and other elements. Such furniture also has certain disadvantages, the main one of which is the need to individually create custom-made models directly for the desired niche. Purchasing will take time because you will need to wait until the manufacturer creates the required design.

Wide and narrow

Narrow models with mirrors that do not take up much space are perfect for a small hallway. At the same time, it will be quite functional and roomy if you think through the internal content wisely. Mirror surfaces not only visually enlarge the room, but also increase the level of lighting, because light sources will begin to be reflected. In this case, you should give preference to double-leaf models. If the hallway is spacious and square in shape, then it is recommended to install wide structures that can accommodate many things, in addition to shoes and clothes. This could be an iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner and many other things. In this case, the best option would be a cabinet with 3 doors.

Radial

Radius-type models are designed for those who adore original interior designs. The main feature of such structures was the convex shape of the doors, sliding to the side along the circumference. Thanks to the peculiarities of their shape, radius structures are more convenient and spacious for the corridor. One of the doors can be decorated with a mirror, and the second with a glossy surface and photo printing. The advantage of the products is the absence of sharp corners, which will make them safe for little people. Among the disadvantages, it is worth noting the high cost of the radius model due to the design features.

Angular

Models that can be installed in a corner are optimal due to their practicality, spaciousness and the fact that they are more beautiful than standard options, but they require enough space and a free corner. A corner wardrobe with a mirror in the hallway makes it possible to competently organize space for storing things, and also rationally use free space. If the hallway is small, then you can install a pentagonal structure. The advantage of such cabinets is the ability to equip them with a variety of drawers, shelves and hangers in huge quantities compared to direct options. The corner compartment can accommodate 2 hangers for coats and jackets, and the rest of the space can be used for shelves.

Manufacturing materials

Modern furniture showrooms and stores offer an incredibly wide range of wardrobes with mirrors made from various materials, on which the price of the products will greatly depend. The most advantageous façade material would be natural wood, because it is practical and reliable, but at the same time the price of models is significantly higher than analogues made from other raw materials. There are models made of plastic that have the most reasonable price. Unfortunately, they look the part. To give a very beautiful appearance, cabinets can be decorated with film, mirrors and photo printing. To create partitions and doors, many manufacturers use MDF because it is practical and inexpensive. Pay attention to products whose thickness is no more than 0.3 meters. Models using glass make it possible to give free rein to your imagination, because it has high decorative properties. It can be made matte, glossy, decorated with mosaics, patterns, patterns, film and other elements.

Dimensions

Before choosing the dimensions of the wardrobe, you need to take the most accurate measurements of the hallway and enter all the dimensions into a notebook. For this, a tape measure is important for measurements, and with all the parameters, the buyer can come to a furniture store, where sales consultants will help you choose the most suitable model. There are also standard designs that can fit into absolutely any space. Their dimensions can vary in this way - height from 1.8 to 2.3 meters, width from 0.7 to 2.2 meters, and depth from 0.4 to 0.9 meters. Based on these parameters, you can choose any product that is in stock. If it is not suitable, then sellers can offer custom-made designs to suit your parameters. Naturally, such a cabinet will cost much more, but it will fit into the corridor as harmoniously as possible.

Wardrobe with a mirror: types of mirrors and facades - selection rules

It is difficult to imagine modern life without mirrors. People are used to taking a quick look at themselves before leaving the house. Some sit in front of it for hours, making it beautiful. Whatever type you are, it can fit into the interior of absolutely any room.

Wardrobe with a mirror facade in the interior - features and advantages

A mirrored cabinet has quite a few advantages:

  • Visual increase in space. This principle only works if the room is reflected in the mirror. More precisely, its free part. The method will not work in a very narrow and long corridor;
  • Gentle diffusion of light. Small beam lights and too bright light are harmful to the eyes. For this reason, it is recommended to place mirrored facades opposite or to the side of large windows. Small lighting sources (sconces, bedside lamps, floor lamps) are also best placed in close proximity to it. Thanks to this rule, there will be no “blind” dark areas in the room;
  • High decorating abilities. Applying a pattern to the surface or equipping it with lighting can qualitatively change the appearance of familiar mirrors;
  • A wardrobe with a mirror will save you from unnecessary furniture. In the bedroom or hallway there will be no need to hang bulky wall or floor options.

Not without its shortcomings. Reflective surfaces require regular and painstaking cleaning. Dust, stains, streaks, as well as your “fingers” are clearly visible on them. It is difficult to clean all this without the use of special tools. It is also necessary to use special cleaning wipes.

In addition, the mirror significantly makes the door heavier, since its weight is added to the main material of the door. Use reinforced fittings. And the reflector can be broken. To avoid cuts, choose reinforced canvases covered with shockproof films on the inside.

Wardrobe with a mirror front in the interior - specifics and advantages

A mirrored cabinet has many advantages:

In the next article we will talk about the topic - a wardrobe with swinging doors built into a niche. Let's try to describe this topic in more detail.

  • Visual expansion of space. This principle only works if the room is reflected in the mirror. More precisely, its free part. The method will not work in a very narrow and long corridor;
  • Gentle diffusion of light. Small beam lights and very bright lights are harmful to the eyes. Therefore, it is recommended to place mirror facades opposite or on the side of large windows. Small lighting sources (sconces, bedside lamps, floor lamps) are also best placed close to it. Due to this rule, there will be no “blind” dark areas in the room;
  • High decorating abilities. Applying a pattern to the surface or equipping it with lighting can qualitatively correct the appearance of ordinary mirrors;
  • A wardrobe with a mirror will free you from unnecessary furniture. In the bedroom or hallway there will be no need to hang large and heavy wall or floor options.

There are also disadvantages. Reflective surfaces require constant and painstaking cleaning. Dust, stains, streaks, and also your “fingers” are clearly visible on them. It is difficult to clean all this without the use of special tools. You also have to use specialized cleaning wipes.

Plus, the mirror significantly makes the door heavier, because its weight is added to the key material of the door. Use reinforced fittings. And in addition, the reflector can be broken. To avoid cuts, choose reinforced sheets covered on the inside with shockproof films.

Installation of mirror facades for cabinets

A facade is a movable system of cabinet doors that remains visible even in the case of built-in models. There are several types of valves:

  • Solid. They are a single one-piece fabric made from any suitable material;
  • Slotted. A slot of the required volume and shape is made in the selected part of the door. A decorative element is inserted into it, which could well be a mirror;
  • Frame. Part of the sash, together with the reflective layer on all sides, is enclosed in a special profile. Its width can be any. It is made of metals (aluminum, chromed steel) or especially durable plastics. Since it looks like a frame, a similar method of decoration has appeared. All panels of cabinet doors with a mirrored facade are enclosed in frames reminiscent of carved picture frames;
  • Composite (composite). The base material can alternate with reflective sections of any given shape. They can be unequal (wavy type) or identical (geometric mosaic).

Adaptation of mirror fronts for cabinets

The facade is the name given to the movable door system of the cabinet, which remains visible even in the case of built-in models. There are several types of valves:

  • Solid. They are a single, one-piece panel made from any optimal material;
  • Slotted. A slot of the required volume and shape is made in the selected door part. A decorative element is placed in it, which will actually become a mirror;
  • Frame. Part of the sash, together with a reflective layer on each side, consists of a specialized profile. Its width varies. Made from metals (aluminum, chrome steel) or especially durable plastics. Because from the outside it resembles a frame, a similar method of decoration arose. All cabinet door panels with a mirror front are enclosed in frames reminiscent of carved picture frames;
  • Composite (composite). The important material can be alternated with reflective sections of any given shape. They can be unequal (wavy look) or similar (tessellated geometric).

For production, in most cases, chipboards of the chipboard type (chipboard, MDF, laminated chipboard) are used. Much more expensive and elite versions of facades can be made from real solid wood or covered with thin veneer sheets. Because it is also made from real wood, it is afraid of dampness, mold, bugs and requires additional processing. The surface can be coated with some polymeric materials.

What kind of mirrors are used for cabinets?

There are several types of reflective surfaces:

  • Silver. The most common option with classic amalgam;
  • Colored. Color additives in the amalgam give the glass specified shades (bronze, green, blue, graphite);
  • Matte. Metals polished to a shine often serve in this capacity. The reflection has a foggy effect;
  • Tinted;
  • One-way visibility effect. At different angles it can give a reflection or look like ordinary transparent glass.

Any mirror can be made in two ways. The glass was not polished. This method is good only for pocket versions or for insertion into a massager. The surface will give a “wave” effect and distort the reflection. The most budget option. A complete process with annealing, polishing and grinding of glass. This will create a full-fledged mirror with ideal reflectivity. Although, this will depend on the coverage. Silver tinting is preferable to aluminum amalgam, which is susceptible to moisture and deteriorates faster. Reflection may be hazy.

Types of decor for cabinet mirrors

Any types of cabinet mirrors can be decorated in several ways:

  • Satinate. May be colorless or tinted. The surface is chemically etched until it loses its reflectivity;
  • Patterned. The plane is etched with a given ornament. Part of the surface retains its shine completely and forms the main pattern, while the rest of the space becomes milky;
  • Foil film. Polished matte metal is often decorated with a pattern of shiny film, which can be colored;
  • Volumetric internal pattern. First, glass with a relief pattern is formed. It can be painted. The last step is to apply the amalgam;
  • Matting by sandblasting. A pattern is applied to the surface according to a given shape. The dullness appears due to a large number of miniature notches and scratches;
  • Stained glass. The most expensive pleasure. In some cases, up to 12 different types of materials may be involved in the process. The drawing is colored with halftones, three-dimensional and very accurate.

Methods for attaching a mirror to the cabinet front

There are many ways to enliven a design using a mirror, but to do this you need to fix it on the facade. Here are the basic installation techniques:

  • Double sided tape. Not suitable for cold rooms with temperatures below +10 (will fall off). It also does not tolerate too high temperatures. Not suitable for kitchen and bathroom. Choose foam options of the 3M category. Acceptable thicknesses range from 0.8 to 2 mm. The consumption takes into account the total weight. On average, it will take up to 60 cm per kilogram of mass. Far from the best and most reliable way;
  • Liquid Nails. The composition has a pungent odor and can cause destruction of the reflective coating. Choose only special adhesives;
  • Construction liquid silicone. The best option without side effects. Apply the composition in strips along the contour in increments of several centimeters;
  • Mechanical fastening. You will need thin screws, plastic stops and metal clamps in the shape of the letter U;
  • Crimping with a profile along the contour. A very reliable method, since the mirror becomes part of the sash.

Choosing a wardrobe with a mirror for the bedroom

When furnishing a bedroom, first of all you need to think about comfort and functionality. Everything plays a role here: color scheme, shape, dimensions.

With or without a mirror: which is better?

To understand whether you need a mirrored wardrobe in your bedroom, we list the pros and cons of a reflective surface:

  1. Light: The mirror has the ability to softly diffuse light rays. But! Any light sources should be positioned slightly offset. Hitting the rays at right angles gives a blinding effect.
  2. Space: the mirror surface has the ability to visually expand the space.
  3. Intimacy: everyone decides for themselves how to use the reflective capabilities of the mirror in this context.

Place of a mirror in the bedroom

If you follow the symbolic development of space according to Feng Shui, then there is no place for a mirror in the bedroom at all. Reflections of the bed and people sleeping on it should not appear in it. This can disrupt the energies of space and provoke illnesses. Therefore, if you are afraid of disturbing your energy balance, then you should not place this interior detail opposite the bed.

Domestic psychologists are in solidarity with Eastern masters. But the final decision is yours.

What kind of glass are mirrors made from?

The material is called float. It can be colorless and especially transparent, which is quite easy to determine by the color of the end cut. If it is green or blue, it is a colorless mirror. Transparent float has no color, but has good transmission capabilities, which will make the room brighter.

In addition, mirror surfaces can be colored, golden, silver, or graphite. You can order an original wardrobe with a bronze-colored mirror.

To ensure a clear and correct reflection, the material is polished using a special thermal method.

Types of mirror decor

A mirror is good and useful in itself. It doesn't need to be decorated at all. But if you want something special, use one of the many solutions, such as:

  • stained glass painting;
  • sandblasting pattern;
  • airbrush;
  • mosaic of multi-colored glass and mirrors;
  • matting;
  • decoration with colored self-adhesive film;
  • false frame made of beads, shells, rhinestones and other small items.

Any type of decor will help create a unique design. But if some work can be done independently with a certain imagination and dexterity, then others, for example, sandblasting a drawing on a cabinet mirror, are better left to a professional.

Mirror facades: types and methods of fastening

When purchasing a mirrored wardrobe, you need to study its design. There are several types of sashes.

  1. Solid two-layer: the mirror sheet is fixed on top of the base of the door.
  2. Slotted: the mirror is inserted into a slot in the door leaf.
  3. Frame: the design consists of a profile that is located around the entire perimeter and securely holds the mirror. The profile can be made of both metal and plastic. The latter allows you to lighten the doors.
  4. Prefabricated: such facades are mounted using thin profiles from figured mirror elements of different shapes and colors.

Functional advantages of mirrored sliding wardrobes

The main advantage of using mirrored wardrobes is their functionality. The use of mirror elements allows you to visually enlarge the space without using any costly methods.

Since mirrors perfectly reflect light, there is a high level of illumination in rooms where mirrored wardrobes are installed. In addition, the presence of a mirror makes the space visually light and removes the effect of clutter.

From a practical point of view, a wardrobe with a mirror solves the problem of installing additional separate mirrors, thereby saving space. This saves space in the room. Inside the wardrobe, you can develop an individual storage system that will allow you to comfortably place all your things.

What are the patterns on a wardrobe mirror?

Mirrors are often decorated with various patterns, since the applied continuous pattern reduces its functionality, or rather the reflective surface is reduced. This also applies to mirrors installed on the wardrobe. Patterns on the wardrobe mirror can be applied in various ways, and we will discuss which ones below.

There are two main types of patterns applied to a mirror or glass: sandblasting and photo printing. They vary in price, appearance, method of application and materials used. Let's look at these two options in more detail in order to understand which type of pattern is right for you.

Stickers for wardrobe mirrors

Decorative mirrors for a wardrobe with a pattern or relief are much more expensive than conventional options. Especially if artistic application techniques are used in the design of the facade, rather than using a ready-made mirror canvas with a pattern. But there is always a way to make the design of mirrored wardrobe doors unique for less! For example, using special stickers for wardrobe mirrors.

  • These can be mirrored acrylic overlays - an unimaginable number of them are offered on Aliexpress, of different shapes, sizes and motifs, for decorating wardrobes in children's rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.

acrylic decorative stickers for wardrobes

  • Using stained glass paints and an outline on the film, you can draw any motif with your own hands, and after drying, glue it to the surface of the mirror. An excellent alternative to stained glass on a mirror and at the same time much cheaper!
  • You can also use regular and voluminous vinyl stickers to decorate mirrors on wardrobes. It looks very beautiful and interesting!

vinyl stickers for closet doors

Another advantage of decorating mirrored wardrobe doors yourself is its changeability. You can change the standard furniture design as you wish at any time. Which is especially important for decorating wardrobe doors in children's rooms. As the child grows up, you can remove the stickers or change them to others with your favorite characters and movie heroes.

Sandblasted patterns on the wardrobe mirror.

To apply them, a special air gun and stencils are used. Having selected a stencil with the desired image, it is applied to a specific area of the surface. An air cannon is then aimed at this area and activated. The gun acts on the mirror with a powerful stream of air containing small grains of sand. Sometimes, instead of sand, other materials are used that affect the appearance of the pattern. For example, the pattern can be rough or smooth, glossy or matte, and can also have different shades. Despite the variety of materials, they all have one factor in common. The materials used for applying the pattern must be very finely crushed, and also capable of being firmly fixed on the surface of the glass under the influence of a powerful air flow.

After the impact of a gun with an abrasive substance on a mirror with an attached stencil, the following changes occur: the glass under the stencil remains the same, but in places where it is absent it changes. Grains of sand attached to the surface of the glass make the pattern matte and rough. The advantage of this method of applying a pattern is the ability to create almost any pattern, and most importantly, a unique one. Masters can create the most complex compositions that have no analogues or repetitions. This is justified by the use of stencils made of self-adhesive film. First, the artist applies a pattern to it, and then it is pasted onto mirrors and the drawn pattern is transferred to its surface.

Patterns applied using photo printing.

Photo printing has two methods of application: on glass and on film, which is then glued to the glass.

This option is more common as it has a number of advantages. Firstly, it is the brightness and richness of color. The paint applied to glass perfectly withstands the aggressiveness of the external environment, that is, it can be exposed to high temperatures and air with high humidity. In addition, printing applied to glass is much more difficult to damage mechanically than film.

This type is more affordable, and therefore remains relevant today. Applying a pattern to film makes it possible to create three-dimensional images. The volume of the image and the play of colors will excite the imagination of anyone and will not go unnoticed.

Applying photo printing directly onto glass is a more expensive and reliable option, which is why it is more often used in bathrooms and other specific rooms. The printing applied to the film has operating rules similar to the operating rules for sliding wardrobes. This justifies the more frequent use of film for applying a pattern to the mirrors of sliding wardrobes.

Canvases of Santorini

The doors of Santorini will attract the eye regardless of their design:

  • with transparent glass;
  • with frosted or colored glass;
  • with mirror;
  • with a blank canvas.

What makes them elegant is the decor in the form of weaves, which are assembled by hand by our craftsmen. In the original version, Santorini was created with transparent glass. In this case, the glass can be beveled or without, as you wish. But it is not always convenient to have doors through which everything can be viewed. Therefore, we can modify the model according to your order, defining for each room its own degree of privacy.

For this project, not only the mirror facades of Santorini were made, but also various variations of doors. For example, double-leaf swing doors, which are located opposite each other: from the hallway to the corridor and from the corridor to the living room. Both doors are double doors with clear glass. Size: 1600x2700 mm and 1200x2700 mm (WxH). The second door seems to be recessed inside the opening. Opening depth 435mm. We made a frame for it. The result was a holistic and harmonious composition.

In the last photos you see single-leaf swing doors. The one with transparent glass has dimensions of 800x2400 mm (WxH) and a deep opening of 438 mm. Here you can clearly see how the frame of the opening is made. The second door with a blank panel leads to the bathroom. Its size is 700x2400 mm (WxH). Additionally equipped with a WS latch.

Caring for patterns applied in various ways.

Sandblasted patterns do not have any special maintenance requirements, and basic care is carried out in the same way as for ordinary glass or a mirror. The only addition is a ban on strong physical impact. That is, when washing, you should not put too much pressure on the sponge or rag, as grains of sand from the pattern may fall off. The patterns on the wardrobe mirror, applied by photo printing on film, have the most complex and specific care rules. When washing such patterns, the use of aggressive detergents is prohibited; you can only use a soft piece of fabric, water and mild soap. It is very important to protect such an image from physical impact, especially repeated use. That is, with regular exposure to one area, it will quickly become shabby and lose its attractive appearance. Photo printing applied to glass is the most low-maintenance option. Such patterns are not afraid of high temperatures, which means they can be washed with hot water, and are resistant to aggressive detergents. But it is still preferable to use warm water and soap solutions for a longer period of use. Patterns on a wardrobe mirror are a great opportunity to decorate or complement the decor of your room. This will not require large financial expenses. The applied patterns can hide some defects on mirrors. Patterns can be chosen or created independently, which makes it possible to fit the wardrobe into any interior.

What is a wardrobe

The compartment system requires the presence of a door frame (this can be a steel or aluminum profile that frames the wooden panel and gives it density), guide elements (rails/tracks), rollers and additional mechanisms. Together, all these parts form a sliding door system for a wardrobe. Their quality determines how easily and smoothly the doors will slide and how long this furniture will last.

The door leaf can be divided into parts made of different materials. These include glass, plexiglass, and mirrors for sliding wardrobes. There are also many options in appearance - painted doors, lined with wickerwork, tapestry, and so on.

By design, sliding wardrobes can be built-in or cabinet. The first ones do not have all the walls, or just one - side, back, bottom or ceiling. And the case ones are a full-fledged single structure with all the corresponding elements.

Another type of cabinets that deserves attention are rotating structures that are mounted on special brackets. There are shelves on one side of the cabinet and a full-length mirror on the other.

For a hallway of non-standard shape, combined models are suitable, helping to hide the shortcomings of the room layout. Mirrors on concave or, conversely, convex surfaces are impractical, but serve only as a decorative element, since the images reflected in them are distorted.

Mirrors in such wardrobes serve as a decorative element.

What are the advantages of mirrored wardrobes?

  • Firstly, a sliding wardrobe, unlike a wardrobe with hinged doors, does not “capture” additional space in the room or in the corridor. Moreover, they are very roomy - behind the doors there are many shelves, hangers, and drawers hidden.
  • Secondly, the built-in mirror in the wardrobe allows you to see how neatly you are dressed, how well the accessories are chosen, whether your makeup is successful, and so on. It will be more convenient if the mirror for sliding wardrobes is as large in area as possible, in full height.
  • Thirdly, a mirror for a sliding wardrobe visually increases the space of the room. This is especially important if your apartment is small.

Another bonus is that wardrobe mirrors improve the lighting of the room. Even if the room/corridor is dark, wardrobe mirrors, effectively reflecting light, make the room brighter. By the way, it is much easier to fit such a cabinet into the interior than other furniture, since thanks to the mirror it blends into any decor.

Of course, you can order a wardrobe with transparent doors or made of solid solid wood, but still mirrors for a wardrobe are the most practical and functional option.

You can order doors with clear or tinted mirrors. A mirror for a sliding wardrobe can have a coating that can be silver, graphite, bronze, blue, green or matte. A special film is applied to the back of the mirrors on the wardrobes - if you accidentally break the glass, it will prevent the fragments from scattering and will hold the fragments.

If you buy a custom-made mirror for a sliding wardrobe, you have much greater opportunities than those who buy mirrors in a store to give your furniture individuality. There are plenty of ways - for example, mirrors for sliding wardrobes can be diversified by applying ornaments using sandblasting or full-color images using photo printing or artistic painting. Mirrors on a wardrobe will add sophistication and originality to even the simplest furniture.

The only thing that can be considered a minus is the heaviness of the mirrors. But if the sliding system is of high quality and all mechanisms work perfectly, this is not a problem. And don’t worry about the fragility of mirrors - manufacturers have found a way to deal with this drawback. They use the same protective film that we talked about above.

Consumers are often concerned with the question: should they buy a ready-made wardrobe with a mirror or order it? Of course, the second option is preferable, since the contractor will take into account your personal wishes, give your furniture individuality, and make a cabinet of a size that suits your room.

Mirror cabinet lighting

If you really want to assemble a backlight, you need to take into account several fundamental points:

  • Halogen. It gets hot and quite hot. If placed on a reflective surface, it will ruin it. She doesn't like overheating. A fire starts in the middle of the cabinet. The light is very bright and sudden. Even the dispersion effect will not help here. And if you position the lamp incorrectly, you will most likely receive microtrauma to the iris or temporary blindness. Very sensitive to changes in mains voltage. Because of these jumps, it quickly becomes unusable. By all accounts, this is not an acceptable option;
  • Fluorescent lamps. Feel free to choose them. The light is very soft and does not heat up. They serve for a very long time;
  • Light emitting diodes. They emit a pointed bright light. Combined with a mirror, it's pretty bad. The heating is calm, making it non-hazardous. Dear ones, they are also asking for the installation of a special transformer with a pulse operating principle. In this regard, it is better to give preference to the luminous tape.

It is best to place it on top or on both sides. This is a good option that will not have a glare effect.
