Sliding wardrobes with a mirror in the hallway (72 photos): white with mirrored doors and with a different design, two-door and three-door wardrobes in the hallway

Peculiarities

A sliding wardrobe with a mirror in the hallway allows you to store not only outerwear and shoes, but also hide demi-season items when they are not needed. This is due to its versatility and practicality. Moreover, when all things are hidden behind the doors, the hallway itself is transformed - it looks spacious and tidy.

Sliding wardrobes are very compact, since sliding doors do not require additional space. But this does not prevent them from being roomy, even if the model is narrow.

Mirrored doors provide additional lighting by reflecting light and visually expand the space. At the same time, you can save a lot, since you don’t need to purchase a full-fledged mirror and think about where to place it. What’s especially nice is that the reflective surface allows you to evaluate a person’s appearance before going full-length.

Cabinets are often placed along the walls, being their logical continuation, which is why they fit harmoniously into the interior. If the layout is non-standard, you can pay attention to built-in models and original radius options.

Naturally, a full-fledged closet requires more space than an ordinary hanger, but this disadvantage is compensated by practical storage systems. For a coupe it is important that the floors are level.
When tilted, the doors can open independently. The problem can be solved by using special stoppers.

Mirror on the end of the cabinet, how to attach it?

If the closet is located at the end of the hallway, then you can hang a mirror on its side and attach a couple of shelves with hooks for all sorts of small things. This method expands the functionality of the furniture and adds convenience to its owners.

You can stick a mirror on a cabinet in any of three ways:

  1. Using double-sided tape. Degrease the surface well with solvent and alcohol so that the chipboard-mirror “adhesion” is as reliable as possible!
  2. Using special glue or liquid nails . In construction stores you can purchase special glue designed specifically for gluing mirrors. Before gluing the mirror onto the chipboard, you must also degrease the connecting surfaces. It is recommended to apply the glue in strokes in one direction to avoid excessive tension inside the mirror sheet.
  3. Overhead fastener . Special corners and clips can be either extremely simple or interestingly designed; they will allow you to not only securely, but also beautifully fix the mirror on the chipboard. Be careful when choosing: some fasteners are designed for mirrors with through holes.

If there is no need to expand the functionality, you can simply decorate the front side of the cabinet with special interior decor - acrylic mirrors in various designs. Such decorative elements are glued to double-sided tape.

If you are interested in decorating the end of a cabinet specifically from a design point of view, we recommend reading about furniture decoupage. Perhaps this will help you decide on a way to beautifully beat the “boring” standard look of the cabinet.

Features and advantages of a wardrobe with a mirror for the hallway

Despite the fact that the hallway most often has a small area, it should accommodate many items: outerwear, hats, shoes, accessories for their care, etc. All this can easily fit in a closet. The peculiarity of this furniture is its spaciousness and compactness; due to the sliding door opening mechanism, maximum usable space is preserved.

They have a lot of advantages, which is why they are so popular all over the world.

The main advantages of a cabinet with a mirror in the hallway:

  • The reflective surface visually expands the space.
  • Stylish appearance that fits easily into any interior.

A sliding wardrobe with a mirror has undoubted advantages that push people to purchase them.

Decor

If you decide to keep and decorate an old cabinet with your own hands, you can decorate it in different ways. There are many techniques that are used for decoration.

Decorative plaster

This is a rather complex decoration option. First, a product covered with old paint must be treated with sandpaper. Using a stencil, it is necessary to apply decorative plaster to the volumetric elements on the cabinet facades. The stencil itself must be removed before the plaster dries. Then the uneven parts are smoothed using a spatula. Finished decorative elements are varnished or painted; gilding or antique patina is possible.

Photo printing

A sliding wardrobe or just an old wardrobe can be greatly updated with photographs or photo wallpaper. Any photographs are enlarged using large format printing in a printing house. The surface is decorated with a panel or a collage of photographs, most often these are sliding wardrobes with smooth doors. However, the service of such printing is expensive, so a budget option is often used - photo wallpaper, which is sold in any repair store. Choose a wide variety of themes - nature, beautiful cities, animals and much more. If you use starch-based glue, you can later change the boring pattern.

Stained glass film

You can decorate an outdated piece of furniture yourself without having any special skills. It’s very easy to stick stained glass film, which is fashionable this season, onto the glass cabinet door. This will add presentability to old furniture. In addition to its decorative function, the film protects the glass from impact and scratches. Removing the film is very simple, and this decorative technique looks very impressive, because the imitation is as close as possible to real stained glass.

Mirror for the cabinet door

If we are talking about small furniture, then the mirror should be appropriate. For example, you can set the option to small so that you can only see your face or waist-high reflection. The sizes of the canvases here are standard: 30x40 and 40x60, but you can offer your own version, especially since our masters are always open to new projects. A small mirror is attached to the door from the inside or outside. In both cases this is done for practical purposes:

  • You can straighten your clothes.
  • Diversify the interior with mirror elements.

If you, for example, love retro style or classics, the mirrored doors of cabinets and bedside tables can be “aged” and achieve the appropriate effect. In this case, it is not necessary to wipe down the surface of the furniture. Better to keep it neat.

Cost of mirrors for wardrobes

The cost of mirrors depends on the following parameters:

  • Canvas sizes
  • Material
  • Availability of engraving
  • Edge processing method
  • Complexity of form
  • Number of holes and cutouts
  • Matting

Calculate the cost of your order using the calculator, or leave a request through the feedback form.

Decor options

Clients are offered the following types of decoration:

  • Mass tinting;
  • Aging;
  • Sandblasting. The matte pattern is applied to the surface using sandblasting;
  • Photo printing. Any image is applied to the mirror using UV printing;
  • Matting. The technology is implemented using acid, sandblasting or special pastes.
  • The protective film protects the mirror and retains fragments upon impact. It can be transparent, colored or decorative with a pattern.

The type is selected depending on the design of the room. If the room is in a vintage style, aging is suitable, and for rooms in a minimalist style, the best solution would be mass tinting.

Types of fastening

The mirror increases the weight of the wardrobe door, so a reliable fastening method must be used in which the surface does not lose its attractiveness.

  • Silicone is used as a fastening material for small mirrors; heavier ones slide off over time. This installation method requires careful preliminary preparation: an installation error cannot be corrected. Once secured with silicone, the mirror cannot be removed without damage.
  • To mount heavier products, stops made of glass or plastic are used, which are attached to the cabinet door, and the mirror is inserted into them. At a certain angle, the fasteners are noticeable, but they do not affect the appearance of the mirror.
  • Installation using mechanical fasteners: screws, dowels, staples, etc.

How to decorate the facade of a wardrobe yourself?

Updating a wardrobe can be both expensive and cheap.
It’s expensive to buy a new one, made to suit your individual needs. It’s cheap to decorate the facade of an old, familiar, but boring cabinet so that it becomes stylish, beautiful and fashionable. 10 years ago, the standard configuration of sliding wardrobes included two options for facades: laminated fiberboard and mirrors. Modern manufacturers have much more design possibilities at their disposal, many of which can be done at home.

Of course, it is impossible to do sandblasting, fusing or stained glass yourself. But a brush or airbrush will help turn boring sliding doors into a designer canvas. And if you are not endowed with artistic talent, it doesn’t matter, there are many accessible and inexpensive ways to decorate spectacular furniture.

Stained glass painting

Getting rid of mirrors is not advisable, even if you are determined to update your closet. There is a practical and elegant solution - glass painting, imitating medieval stained glass windows.

1. Select or create a stained glass pattern of a suitable size yourself. Draw or print a sketch on paper that you will refer to as you work.

2. Remove the mirror from the frame, place it on the table, and degrease it with alcohol.

3. Using a stained glass outline, pressing evenly on the tube, draw a “binding”. Achieve uniform line thickness. If you get a dotted line, repeat the line over it. Correct mistakes with solvent and ear sticks while the paste is fresh. Leave the drawing to dry for 3 hours.

4. Fill the outlined areas of the “glass” with stained glass paints using a watercolor brush. If there is an air bubble left in the paint, pierce it with a medical needle. Paint over any color that appears on the outline with paste after the paint has dried. If the glass tone appears pale, apply another coat of color after drying.

After three days the paint will dry completely and become transparent. Secure the design with stained glass varnish. After a day, the mirror or glass can be inserted into the frame.

3D photo printing

The most popular method of interior decor today. Any photographs, enlarged to the required size and printed on polymer canvas, change the format of the room beyond recognition. For example, the facade of a dressing room can be turned into an open exit to a forest clearing or sea beach, and a family photo gallery can be created on it.

Dozens of sites offer thousands of options for ready-made photo wallpapers. Choose the ones you like and place your order. You will have images printed to the specified dimensions for each door on sheets of transparent or opaque film with a self-adhesive backing. You can take your own photographs to a design studio, advertising company, or printing house that offers large-format 3D printing services. And then everything is in your hands.

• water spray;

• glass washing liquid;

• clean soft napkin;

• self-adhesive cork stops 10x10 mm;

• a piece of PVC or cardboard pipe with a diameter of 2-5 inches;

1. Remove the glass from the frames and place it face down on the table. Glue several cork stops along the perimeter of the glass on the table.

2. Wipe the work surface with glass cleaner and wipe dry.

3. Unfold the roll on the glass with the film facing up. Align the edges and press down with a weight.

4. At one end of the film, stick an edge of tape about 2 cm wide. Tuck the rest under the glass and glue it underneath.

5. Roll the second end of the roll, carefully winding it onto the pipe.

6. Wet the glass generously with clean water from a spray bottle.

7. On the fixed side of the roll, separate the protective paper from the film by 10 cm. Place the edge of the film against the glass. Separating the paper, gradually lay the coating on the work surface and smooth it with a spatula.

8. Remove the tape. Use the sharp tip of a ruler knife to trim the margins.

9. Wipe the film with a damp cloth and detergent to remove hand marks, spatula marks, and stains.

After installing the glass in place, the film will be inside the cabinet.

Matting

You can apply a pattern to an old mirror or glass that imitates sandblasting. Buy a stencil film with a cut-out ornament in the store. Prepare:

• alcohol or solvent;

• small plastic spatula;

• matting paste.

1) Remove the mirror from the frame and place it face up on the table.

2) Wash the glass. Degrease the surface with alcohol and wipe dry.

3) Spray glue on the back of the stencil.

4) Place the stencil with the adhesive side on the glass, align the edges, and smooth it through a sheet of paper.

5) Using a spatula, fill the cut-out design with matting paste. Leave for 15 minutes.

6) Using a spatula, scrape the paste back into the jar. Rinse off any remaining residue under running water.

7) Remove the stencil. Wipe the glass dry.

The stencil is reusable. Aerosol glue remains sticky for a long time, but does not leave marks on the glass. The paste is safe for the skin of the hands, but corrodes the surface of the glass, leaving an indelible pattern.

Easy low-budget options

Adhesive tape

A quick and effective way to transform your interior. Films are available for sale with designs for various types of wood, bamboo, rattan, leather, colored plain, with color and monochrome patterns. With their help, they renew the surface of fiberboard, paste over glass and mirrors.

What is a built-in wardrobe

In open-frame models of sliding wardrobes, the function of load-bearing elements is performed by the walls of the room, and the internal elements (shelves, rods, etc.) are attached directly to the walls of the room.

Built-in wardrobes in the hallway, made in a modern style, consist of three main components:

  • façade;
  • opening mechanism;
  • internal filling.

Some options

A practical, functional, stylish corner wardrobe in the hallway can work wonders, turning a modest room into a beautiful, cozy, functional one.

By the way, if you can’t find a suitable model in stores, which is almost impossible with the choice offered, then any option can be ordered by craftsmen.

Unusual uses of plaster

Plaster allows you to add texture to any surface. These can only be some corner elements, such as a contour ornament, or the entire surface will have a relief pattern. For such work you will need all sorts of stamps and stencils.

The finished texture can also be saturated with color. Here again you will need paint. Painting or covering in one tone is a matter of imagination. Texture and decoupage are amazingly combined. Then the surface will really seem voluminous and somehow impossible.

Always give your furniture new life. Believe me, you will never be able to find more unusual and original furniture than made by yourself. Get inspired and start creating!

Varieties

Modern sliding wardrobes presented on the furniture market are multifunctional systems that allow you to place a huge number of different things for storage.

Such designs fit perfectly into the interior of any room, while saving space in the room.

There are several types of wardrobes:

  • Modular designs.
  • Built-in wardrobes.
  • Corner designs.
  • Diagonal corner cabinets.

Modular wardrobes can be called the most popular and widespread. This is due to the excellent technical and operational characteristics that such models possess.

Recommendations from the designer

Built-in models. Such structures are installed in a special niche located in the wall of the room. Built-in models are very economical and practical. Such products can be quickly and easily made with your own hands. Such sliding wardrobes are great for arranging small spaces.

Corner wardrobes. Such products are an excellent option for arranging small hallways. The designs are compact in size and have excellent capacity.

Diagonal corner designs. Original and stylish cabinets, very spacious and practical. Such designs look elegant and luxurious.

Methods requiring the use of paints

Decoupage

Wardrobe door assembly diagram.

This method is suitable for decorating any surface: solid wood, chipboard, MDF, plastic, glass and mirrors.

If your wardrobe is made of wood, chipboard or MDF, then decoupage on its doors will be done as follows:

  1. Sand the areas where the pattern will be applied with fine-grit sandpaper to remove excess varnish or paint from the surface and make it smooth.
  2. Cover these places with acrylic varnish and prime (a special acrylic primer is used for this). Then sand again, apply varnish and primer.
  3. Attach the pattern.
  4. Cover it with varnish.
  5. Next, if necessary, refine the drawing with acrylic paints - this will give the image life, as if it were a handwritten painting.
  6. Cover the work with varnish in several layers (from 7).
  7. Sand and additionally decorate using the craquelure technique, for example.
  8. Apply a finishing coat of varnish: it is better if it is alkyd or yacht varnish - this way you won’t have to worry that your creation will not last long. But you can get by with acrylic, because the wardrobe is rarely located in a room with high humidity.

Why is it so important to sign in?

Our life is in constant motion. Therefore, when we come home, the only thing we want is to relax.

Crossing the threshold, the first feeling that should occur is peace. It is here that the first minutes of relaxation come and they should bring pleasure.

A sliding wardrobe in a small hallway can hide some surprises. For example, you can store not only outerwear in it, but also a folding chair for changing shoes. Agree, a good option for saving space.

Options for placing a closet in the hallway

When planning a hallway, it is important to think carefully about where the cabinet will be installed. It should be located so as not to clutter the space or cause inconvenience.

The best options for placing a cabinet are niches and corners. This way you can make optimal use of the corridor space.

Classification of sliding wardrobes

Depending on the number of doors in the cabinet design, there are several types of such furniture; those found in the interior most often include:

Two-door wardrobes. A stylish and spacious two-door wardrobe with a mirror is suitable for small and compact rooms, for which it is important to organize the free space as efficiently as possible and visually expand it due to the reflective surface.

Three-door wardrobes. Beautiful three-door wardrobes with a mirror are used for the living room or bedroom, not only for storing various accessories, but also as an alternative to a regular mirror, looking into which you can put yourself in order before going out.

Four-door wardrobes. Magnificent designs that can transform and update any room, give it a special shine and saturate it with light reflected in the mirror surface and received from natural and artificial lighting sources located in any room.

Decor options

Old furniture can become an original interior design decoration using decorating techniques. Many ideas have been developed on how to make a new cabinet out of an old one. These are dyeing and artistic painting technologies, methods of decoupage and wallpapering, and adding decorative inserts.

Upholstery and upholstery with fabric or leather will change the style of items in accordance with the updated interior of the room.

An original and effective solution is mosaic decor. The technique suits Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The elements used are ceramics, glass of different shades, etc.

The decor of an old cabinet can be done with gilding. Furniture is given a luxurious look with the help of foil, which allows you to completely cover the item or create sophisticated patterns.

When restoring furniture, it is important to consider the harmony of the combination of finishes with the color scheme of the room.

Painting

Painting furniture is a simple and effective technique. The design can be monochromatic or combine a range of contrasting shades. Partial coloring of elements is possible: drawers, doors, handles, side parts, etc. Furniture processed using the ombre technique looks original - with transitions from rich to pastel shades.

Chests of drawers and sideboards made of natural solid wood are recommended to be treated with a thin layer of translucent paint to preserve the texture of the wood. Surfaces are painted with acrylic paint, which is considered optimal for furniture decoration, since the material is odorless, easy to clean and mix. Before work, surfaces are sanded and primed.

Stencils and stickers

Stencils and vinyl stickers are an affordable and easy way to decorate your closet on your own. The method allows you to decorate furniture with patterns of laconic geometric shapes or complex compositions. Decorative stencils allow you to complete your work accurately. The method is suitable for Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles.

Decorating furniture with wallpaper will help hide surface imperfections and change the design of the item. The color scheme of materials is chosen in accordance with the shades of the interior. Before finishing, the cabinet frame must be sanded and painted. It is possible to combine the raw texture of wooden furniture and wallpaper patterns used to decorate some cabinet elements. The method is suitable for vintage-style rooms.

Wallpaper as a decoration is suitable for many interiors due to a wide palette of shades, color combinations and patterns. Textures can be embossed, glossy or matte.

If you decorate the cabinets with photo wallpaper, you will get an original model. Wallpaper can also be glued to parts of the cabinet: sides, doors, shelves, etc. After finishing work, the product is coated with a fixing varnish.

Decoupage

Using the decoupage technique, furniture is decorated with a pattern that merges with its surface. The method is simple to perform and effective. The finishing material is special napkins with floral patterns, images of nature and animals, paintings by famous masters, etc. The image can be clear or blurred in accordance with the design project.

For original interiors in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, letters, sheets of old newspapers, theater tickets, movie posters, etc. are used. To decorate a room in the Provençal style, napkins in pastel colors with floral patterns are used. Do-it-yourself wardrobe decor can also be made using decoupage technique.

When applying the material, you must ensure that the coating is even. After drying, the surface is covered with a layer of protective varnish.

Dimensions

The height of the cabinet is often up to the ceiling, but there are also low models. The standard width is 50-60 cm. It is quite roomy, but does not take up much space in the corridor. The sliding door system takes about 10 cm, as there are two profiles.

Narrow models have a width of 40 cm. There is no point in making them narrower - things will fall out. The rods in such cabinets are often located across. It is not always convenient to sort through hangers and pull things out, which is why retractable structures are available.

Making a large, deep cabinet is also impractical. It's roomy, but it won't be very convenient to reach for the things you need. This one is easier to convert into a mini-wardrobe with a carefully thought-out storage system.

The width of the doors depends on the material from which they are made. Therefore, it can vary from 40 to 110 cm.

There is no point in making them wider or narrower, because this affects the ease of movement and overall stability.

Therefore, small wardrobes have a width of at least 80 cm.

Mirror in the wardrobe

The mirror fabric for the wardrobe has a number of characteristics.

  • Big size. Often the doors of such a cabinet are made completely mirrored, so the height of the glossy surface can reach 2 m.
  • Optimal thickness. It does not reach more than 4 mm. This is justified by the design of the furniture. The wardrobe is equipped with sliding doors that should open smoothly and easily. A thick mirror will complicate this task and make the system heavier. Thin options won't work either. The mirror will simply crack if it cannot withstand daily stress.
  • Protective film. Mirrors are coated with a special layer, which increases their strength and safety percentage.
  • Dense layer of amalgam. It protects the glass from deformation and shattering.

It is better to install the mirror with professionals. If you want to install the mirror sheet as securely and correctly as possible, contact our company. No double tape or liquid mastics! Our craftsmen will do the job quickly and efficiently, using modern fastening techniques and seals.

Method No. 2: Decorating wardrobe doors with corner patterns

If you don't want to cover the entire surface of the door, we recommend using vinyl decals with elegant angular patterns. Here you will get additional benefits:

— corner patterns are smaller, so the sticker will cost less;

— small elements are much easier and faster to apply;

— by decorating the corners, you will allow the mirror to serve you as a mirror.

When applying a small vinyl decal, we recommend removing the backing . Place it on a flat surface with the pattern down, pick up one of the corners and carefully remove it at an acute angle. If any element sticks to the backing, return the area to its place, iron it again with a squeegee and try to remove further. The sticker should remain on the transparent film with the adhesive layer facing up.

When applying the sticker, take the upper corners of the mounting film and stick it, smoothing it from top to bottom along the marking lines. It’s good if you have a second person helping you to support the sticker from below so that it doesn’t stick prematurely.

Dimensions

Before choosing the size of the wardrobe, you need to take measurements of the corridor and accurately write down all the parameters in a notebook. For such actions you will need a measuring tape. With all the parameters, the buyer goes to a furniture store, where salespeople will help you choose the most suitable model. There are also standard options that will fit into any space. Their dimensions vary as follows: height – 180-230 cm, width – 70-220 cm, depth – 40-90 cm.

Based on these indicators, you can select any available product. If it is not suitable, then the furniture store will offer a custom-made design according to individual parameters. Of course, such a cabinet will cost more, but it will fit most harmoniously into the corridor.

Golden rules of choice

In order for the choice to meet 100% expectations, you need to know some nuances:

The wardrobe in the hallway should contain the number of shelves and drawers that are needed here and now. But, if finances allow, and you are counting on expanding your family, then it is better to immediately order a model that will accommodate everything.

It is very important if the load-bearing function of the side, rear panels, and lids is performed by the walls of the room. There is one nuance here - no drywall. The fact is that the material is soft, so it may not withstand constant load.

Mechanisms for opening doors play an equally important role. This is a metal frame with special rollers for moving the door. The device is not very reliable. The second option is to use monorails.

Choose aluminum or steel profiles. The former are more expensive, although they are inferior in durability to the latter.

Methods that do not require the use of paints

Using photo wallpaper

Photo wallpaper intended for doors is suitable for finishing a sliding wardrobe. You may have to trim them a little: standard photo wallpaper for doors has a size of 86x220 cm. Using photo wallpaper you can create original images on your wardrobe.

  1. Before pasting wallpaper, degrease the surface.
  2. Glue the photo wallpaper using PVA glue. But it is better to glue photo wallpapers with a special self-adhesive back side to varnished surfaces.

For mosaics on doors, it is better to use acrylic or glass mosaics. Ceramic is too heavy and bulky.

  1. Pre-clean the surface where you are going to glue the mosaic.
  2. Mark the surface with a pencil to make an even element.
  3. Attach the mosaic with Moment glue, or better yet, with liquid nails.

Here are some simple and original ways to decorate a closet. Create with pleasure and enjoy what you create!

Materials for production

Chipboard and MDF

The ideal material for making cabinet bodies is chipboard. Chipboard lined with decorative paper has sufficient strength for the manufacture of internal filling. And the wide range of decors offered on the market will help bring any customer’s ideas to life.

This material is much cheaper in cost compared to MDF boards, but is inferior in moisture resistance. MDF is a board made from compressed sawdust and has sufficient strength.

MDF boards can be milled, thereby creating all kinds of decors, for example in a classic style. The plates are covered with decorative PVC film or painted with enamel.

Fiberboard

To save on materials and to facilitate the design of the cabinet, the back walls are made of chipboard. Fiberboards are ideal for fastening structures because they are lightweight. The cabinet becomes less heavy.

Interesting: the design of a built-in wardrobe does not have to be made with fiberboard, since the back wall can be the wall of the room, which needs to be covered with wallpaper.

Design options

It is recommended to select a wardrobe that matches the color and style of the interior. For example, the minimalism movement is characterized by a lack of decor and clear lines. There should be no additional details. This is a great option for very small hallways. It is important to note that mirrors reflect all objects in the room, due to which the entire interior may seem overloaded.

For a classic style, you need to choose elegant models with strict lines, which automatically excludes radius cabinets. Colors should be chosen in moderation. This is a calm beige, wenge or discreet white. Ideal if the texture of the wood is visible. Gold or silver fittings are allowed, but luxury should be restrained, without excessive pomp, otherwise it is already baroque.

A freer modern style. It may have references to historical eras or be designed in a modern style. These are non-standard, intricate lines, contrasting colors, the doors can be decorated with rhombuses or other geometric patterns, or original fittings.

Provence prefers light shades and natural textures , metal or forged fittings, elegant details and floral patterns.

Loft and high-tech are characterized by a cold palette , gray and silver shades, glossy facades, chrome steel, mirror surfaces.

Special attention to mirrors. They can be sandblasted, photo printed, or matte. The mirror itself can be installed on one door, for example, in the middle, or on several. If there are two doors, then the mirror inserts are often located vertically, if there are three - horizontally.

In radius models, the facades are so curved that the reflection is distorted. Therefore, they are most often painted with a picture. As a result, mirrors act more as a decorative element than have a practical function.

Cabinets may have open, rounded shelves on the sides. They are not very practical, but they perfectly smooth out the space.

Painting and painting

When painting, you should not forget about the style of the interior.

If you decide to paint your wardrobe with your own hands, then you have labor-intensive work ahead of you:

  1. Before you start painting furniture made of chipboard, wood or MDF, you need to prepare the surface. Sand it and coat it with a layer of alkyd primer.
  2. Once the alkyd primer is dry, apply an acrylic primer over it.
  3. Then start painting with a roller or brush. It is better to use alkyd or oil paints. It is better to apply at least 2 layers.

If the surface of the wardrobe is not damaged, then it is better to leave it intact. If you really want something new, then make a drawing using a stencil, or if you have a talent for drawing, make a drawing yourself using acrylic paints. This decor will be original.

  1. Sand the areas where the image will be applied using sandpaper and prime with acrylic primer.
  2. Now you can create! Draw whatever your heart desires, not forgetting, of course, about the style of the interior, so that the decor of the wardrobe does not spoil the overall picture. It’s better to draw small elements: patterns, flowers, etc. This reduces the likelihood of “not fitting” into the overall harmony.
  3. When the paint is dry, cover it with several layers of acrylic varnish (about 6-10).
  4. Finally, sand the surface.

Materials for making sliding wardrobes with a mirror

The service life of a product depends on the raw materials and quality of components, this affects its appearance and cost.

MDF panels are smooth and durable, have a wide range of colors, and can be milled. Chipboard and laminated chipboard are also widely used.

The mirror surface visually increases the space, which is beneficial for a small hallway.

Natural wood is more expensive than pressed wood chips, looks presentable and lasts a long time.

Today, stores offer a wide range of models at different prices, so every buyer can choose an option to suit their taste.

Steel and aluminum are used as metals in the manufacture of profiles. Steel is a strong, heavy metal, but aluminum is not inferior to it in terms of service life and is more common, as it guarantees silent sliding of parts.

Secrets of choice

Thanks to the mirrored doors, the closet practically merges with the wall.

Therefore, furniture is chosen to match the walls or floor, but not more than two shades.

If the walls are bright and colorful, it is better to choose a monochromatic cabinet so that it muffles them a little.

If the set is too bulky, you should opt for light shades. White furniture always looks light and airy, visually expanding the space. Dark furniture should have good lighting, otherwise the surrounding space may appear gloomy.

If there are many doors opening into the corridor, it is recommended to choose a tall, but small-width double-leaf cabinet. For a narrow corridor, you should look for shallow models, and in small hallways, corner models fit well.

How to decorate a closet with your own hands with photos

There are different approaches to decorating furniture.

Wallpapering

This simple, quick and inexpensive method of decoration has significant artistic potential. To implement it you will need:

  1. Fragments of wallpaper. The most important part is to choose wallpaper with a good design or pattern. They should not merge with the walls of the room, surpassing them in color saturation by at least several tones.
  2. Wallpaper glue. Apply it to the prepared surface of the furniture, place the wallpaper on top and smooth it so that there are no air bubbles or wrinkles anywhere.
  3. PVA glue and water-based varnish. After gluing, cover the wallpaper with a neat layer of PVA glue diluted with water. Apply a final layer of varnish.

IMPORTANT ! Before you start gluing, make sure that the combination of wallpaper fragments you have come up with looks harmonious. Draw a detailed sketch or attach what you are going to stick to the doors.

Plaster pattern

A three-dimensional pattern of plaster on the surface of the wardrobe focuses attention on this piece of furniture, turning it into the highlight of the room. Technically, such a pattern is easy to make using:

  1. Stencils. Make it yourself from cardboard, plastic or thick film. Floral or geometric patterns, ethnic patterns, and stylized images of animals and birds are often used.
  2. Masking tape. Take the resulting blank and secure it with tape on the surface of the cabinet.
  3. Plaster. Apply decorative plaster to the surfaces of the furniture, over the stencil.

IMPORTANT ! The stencil must be removed before the plaster dries!

After drying, treat the resulting composition with paint or acrylic varnish.

Wardrobe decor with fabric

Fabric can be a good alternative to wallpaper. Textiles also have a wide range of colors and prints; they make up very expressive and effective compositions. To fix it on the surface of the wardrobe you will need:

  1. PVA glue, furniture stapler or liquid nails. In a word, what to attach fabric blanks to the closet.
  2. Varnish. To process the resulting surface. However, this stage is sometimes neglected. After all, textiles often have a characteristic, pleasant-to-touch texture that you want to preserve.

A triangular corner cabinet with decor on the mirror fits organically into the interior. Visually it seems small, but in fact it is quite roomy. It comes complete with a hanger with a small cabinet. Everything together looks like a single composition.

The built-in wardrobe has become an extension of the wall and practically does not distract attention. And mirrored doors visually make the space even wider, as if there is another room further down.

This model combines everything: the cabinet itself, drawers for storage, and a mezzanine. At the same time, there is a built-in hanger and a cabinet that acts as a banquette.

A narrow three-door wardrobe fits perfectly along the wall. Thanks to the streamlined side open shelves, it has become part of the wall and cuts the space at an angle.

The closet is not just located on the side of the front door; above it there are mezzanines to match the facades.
