Mayer MYPONY (Czech Republic, Germany)

The chair is adapted for children aged four years and older. Suitable for adults too. Seat height adjustment is provided. Maximum loads – up to 90 kg. Warranty – five years.

Advantages:

  • strength and reliability;
  • ergonomics;
  • high-quality upholstery that is easy to clean with special products;
  • the presence of a comfortable footrest and wheels.

Minuses:

  • not suitable for babies;
  • quite high price.

The peculiarity of the product is that the rollers fix the chair and ensure the safety of the child, functioning in turn in two modes. Thanks to this design solution, the chair, according to the manufacturer, does not roll away from the table.

Little Humpbacked Horse (Russia)

The transformer ensures correct posture thanks to the adjustable seat and footrest. Suitable for both small children and schoolchildren. The manufacturer provides a 10-year warranty. The peculiarity of the model is that the seat is quite narrow, which does not allow the child to change position and fall apart in the chair.

Pros:

  • easy adjustment to the configuration, height and weight of the child;
  • availability of a set of restraints to ensure the safety of children (can be purchased additionally);
  • increased stability due to the large support area;
  • high quality coating (harmless varnishes from Germany);
  • environmentally friendly manufacturing materials.

Minuses:

  • Teflon pads on the legs ensure the model glides on the floor and allows the child to move the chair independently;
  • curved back (According to experts, the back of the chair should be straight).

The Little Humpbacked Horse chair and its analogues occupy high positions in the ranking of chairs for first-graders. However, the last specified characteristic (unimpeded sliding of the product on the floor) is considered ambiguously by some parents - either as an advantage of the product, or as a serious disadvantage.

Skeptics present a compelling argument from their point of view - you will not be able to ensure the safety of your child. The presence of Teflon on the legs and the ability to easily move the chair is a plus or minus, only the parents can decide.

Stokke Steps “TRIPP TRAPP” (Norway)

High-quality European expensive product made from natural solid beech. The model can withstand loads of up to 140 kg. It features a beautiful and stylish design, quick and easy assembly.

Pros:

  • durability and quality;
  • natural materials of manufacture;
  • 100% safety guarantee;
  • convenient design;
  • the presence of five-point seat belts;
  • 12 height adjustment options;
  • the ability to select the optimal settings for the height and age of the child.

Minuses:

  • very high price;
  • curved back (According to experts, the back of the chair should be straight);
  • expensive, although reliable, components.

The product can be used from the moment the child begins to sit independently. This is a big plus of the model. But the unreasonably high price of the product does not make it possible to give the chair first place in the rating.

MILLWOOD Vyrastaika (Belarus)

An updated version of the previous version – the popular Vyrastaika-2 model. Made from durable birch plywood coated with health-safe paint.

The chair can be used from as early as six months of age. Ensures correct fit and healthy posture. The manufacturer guarantees a long service life (official warranty - 11 years).

Features and Pros:

  • the presence of a comfortable orthopedic back;
  • suitable for children of different ages (toddlers, primary and secondary school age, teenagers, students);
  • the transformer is suitable for adults, for example, when working at a computer;
  • Adjustable footrest and seat are provided;
  • The design is stable, the legs do not slip on the floor;
  • the product is durable and reliable, service life is tens of years;
  • natural material – wood (does not creak, does not dry out or crack);
  • build quality is high;
  • the product can withstand significant weight (up to 100 kg).

Minuses:

  • the bulkiness of the model and its rather large weight;
  • complexity and duration of the adjustment process;
  • curved back (According to experts, the back of the chair should be straight).

The large mass of the model is both a plus and a minus at the same time. On the one hand, the design is very stable and reliable. The child does not loosen the chair and cannot fall apart on it. But he will also not be able to move the product on his own and needs the help of adults.

Growing chair. Which to choose?

Good afternoon everyone!

I choose a growing chair for my child. I’ve studied a lot and want to share it with other mothers, and also get your opinion.

I want to buy a chair for several years at once. A growing chair solves this problem. It can be used from the moment when the child is already sitting well until he is 16 years old. And over time, it simply turns into an adult comfortable chair with the correct fit.

For a child to properly form his spine, support on his legs is very important. When he leans on his legs at a 90-degree angle, he keeps his back straight. When writing, your elbow should be at 90 degrees. A wooden chair is much easier to clean than other chairs with soft upholstery, oilcloth, and a lot of “bells and whistles” into which food gets stuffed. I experienced this myself.

Also from the point of view of developmental psychology, it is important that the child sits at a common table in order to instill a culture of behavior.

I want the chair to be reliable and of high quality.

I started searching and realized that there are a lot of manufacturers. I collected information here. Please share your feedback.

1) Perhaps the most famous and expensive chair is Stokke Trip Trap

Pros: well-known brand, solid beech wood, a large number of colors, many accessories, metal ties, all the advantages of a growing chair.

Cons: The price is very high, the accessories are also expensive, I read that the baby seat is very narrow. It is very difficult to reach a child, especially with shoes on. It's difficult to unfasten every time. In Stokke, unless you buy a very expensive chair set, the metal ties are black, even on a white chair. In my opinion, light tie rods look more harmonious on a light chair. We have a small kitchen, and I read about Stokke that it is bulky.

I actually like this chair because it combines beech and metal, which means it will last a long time. A little expensive and I decided to look at others class=”aligncenter” width=”335″ height=”501″[/img]

2) I was thinking about buying Kidfix. What attracted me to it was the price and the appearance of it being nice and made of wood.

Pros: price, natural wood and, of course, all the advantages of a growing chair.

Cons: I liked it because it is made of natural wood. But then it turned out that not a single chair is made from solid wood. All manufacturers, including Stokke, make a seat of this thickness from plywood. Of course, plywood comes in different varieties. It is also important how the painted plywood looks. For example, I didn’t really like the chair with a transparent finish, since the pattern of birch plywood looks very cheap, there’s no getting around it). A very important disadvantage is that the ties are not metal, but wooden. Apparently, due to savings, since wooden ones, I found out, are many times cheaper than metal ones. Since wood is a "living" material that expands and shrinks at different temperatures and humidity, I believe this is not reliable. Well, in principle, such a thin wooden rod can accidentally break. For a screed that is responsible for the strength of the structure, I think this is not serious. That is why I dismissed all manufacturers who have wooden ties. Also one of the minuses is that Stokke accessories do not fit. The base of the chair is large because the support legs of the chair are long. And this chair also has a partition on the floor where the legs end; it will be very inconvenient for approaching a child from behind. There is no fence for children; this function is performed by a table. And I saw a review that the table does not hold well, it flies out of the grooves, and with it the child ((((

3) Microfactory I really liked it. According to some reviews, it is even better than Stokke, and at a very affordable price. So far I'm leaning most towards this chair.

Pros: made of beech, metal ties, small footprint (what we need for a small kitchen, and so as not to trip over it on the walkway), large selection of colors and you can also individually order any color at all, all Stokke accessories fit. Very Judging by the reviews, it is made qualitatively and soundly.

Cons: At first I doubted it would fall. Then I read that it does not fall, and there are also metal runners that extend and you can step on them and the chair becomes completely stable. The second minus is the price. It is about 2,000 rubles more expensive than its Russian counterparts. Although it seems to me that if a chair is bought for such a long time, then there is definitely no need to save.

4) The most popular of all the chairs we produce is the Little Humpbacked Horse.

Pros: All the benefits of a growing chair. Large support area. There is a cheap option for an unpainted chair.

Cons: Many people think this chair is cheap. Cheap, made from unpainted plywood, but it will get dirty in a week! Someone can decorate it, but definitely not me!!! The paint should lie flat. Again, the chair is not for one year, it’s better not to save money. I didn't like the fastening system. I read reviews on the Internet that the pins they use for fastening flew out and children fell from the chair. Correctly, the chair should be attached to the grooves (like Stokke’s) made in the sides, and not inserted into some things that also go somewhere. Its base area is large, bulky and most importantly, it is made of cheap birch plywood. In a transparent finish, I don't like it at all. I also didn’t like the back of this chair and found it uncomfortable. Again, the ties are wooden, a big minus for me.

5) Fedin chair

Pros: Low price, all the advantages of a growing chair.

Cons: Again, a chair that is simply varnished is inexpensive, but a painted chair is already 7300. The back is very irregular and straight. No bending. Well, in general, visually it is very bulky and not attractive in my opinion, wooden ties, material - plywood.

6) Kotacotta

Pros: all the advantages of a growing chair, 9 colors.

Cons: It's also made of plywood. The entire back is a side cut of plywood, the layers of plywood are directly visible - in my opinion it doesn’t look very good. Wooden ties, a friend has this chair and it really is very wobbly and creaks, although it has only been in use for 2 years. Plus it's bulky.

Since the purchase is serious, there is something to think about. Share your real reviews. When I decide and buy a chair, I will definitely do a review and a detailed review during use.

Kid-Fix (Russia)

It is positioned as a comfortable, height-adjustable product for both children of any age and adults. The model fits well into the interior, made in different stylistic solutions.

Pros:

  • natural wood as a manufacturing material (solid birch);
  • versatility (suitable for any age, height and weight);
  • reliability of design;
  • strength and durability;
  • ease of installation.

Minuses:

  • lack of seat belts;
  • inconvenience for the little ones due to excessive rigidity;
  • curved back (According to experts, the back of the chair should be straight).

The maximum weight of a seated person is 120 kg. But parents note that the seat is too hard; many children do not like sitting on the chair.

Kotokota (Russia)

A high-quality, middle-class transforming product for children, schoolchildren, students and adults. It has a wide range of settings to suit existing needs, equipment and user height. The best option for games, lessons, working at the monitor, eating, etc.

Pros:

  • good build quality;
  • settings;
  • convenient adjustment of the height and depth of the seat and footrest;
  • well thought out design;
  • certified, environmentally friendly manufacturing materials.

Minuses:

  • poorly thought out table design;
  • There are complaints about the quality of plywood.

An important nuance is that the manufacturer has provided the ability to adjust the seat with almost no restrictions. This allows us to include this model in the list of the best adjustable pieces of furniture for children.

Features of the best growing chair for children. How to choose the right one?

Parents do not have valuable information and do not know what to pay attention to. Stores are filled with low-quality goods. Chairs of different colors and designs can look quite attractive, and the price of many models seems to be “not too bad.” But if you read this text, you will be able to choose exactly the chair that will help your child develop correct posture.

So, four important and mandatory aspects:

A set of adjustments - back height, seat depth and footrest

What is needed is a set of adjustments. A conscientious manufacturer provides the ability to set the desired depth of the seat and footrest (footrest) and the height of the backrest.

Please note the requirements of the Interstate Standard:

The height of the backrest should not be lower than the level of the child’s shoulder blades. If it is above or below this level, the child begins to hunch over. The seat depth of a children's chair should not be too deep . The distance from the edge of the seat to the bent knee is least two centimeters. The knees are located no higher than the level of the hips .

You will be able to adjust the chair to the International Standard and the existing anthropometric data of the child and his age only if you have a set of adjustments! Without at least one parameter, your posture will begin to deteriorate. To summarize, a proper growing chair should have the following adjustments: back height adjustment, seat depth adjustment and footrest depth adjustment.

The photo shows chairs with no mandatory adjustments. Be careful when choosing!

Back shape

No curved shapes! Most often, parents make this very mistake - choosing fancy curves. They think that such a product is ergonomic and as comfortable as possible. Of course, to increase sales, many manufacturers do this and advertise their products as comfortable to sit on. But such backs are absolutely not suitable for children! Remember what kind of desks there were in Soviet times.

The back must be straight. If the child is sitting , then the surface of the table should be at the level of the thoraco -abdominal diaphragm .

In this position, the child maintains an even position of the body and correct posture. The spine does not bend, the deep muscles of the back, tendons and ligaments of the torso are strengthened.

A growing chair should have a straight back

Correct, beautiful posture is a factor that ensures good tone of the trunk muscles. Strong muscles are able to support the body in the correct position. To achieve this, you need to constantly train your muscles. Their training is carried out while walking and sitting. But there is one important condition here - the back must be straight. Any outside help leads to muscle relaxation. They stop working, which leads to deterioration of posture and the appearance of scoliosis. That is why the curved backs of growing chairs are harmful to the child’s health. Don't be led by marketers, a growing chair only needs a straight back!

Chair shape

The absence of sharp corners and protruding parts is a necessary condition for preventing bruises, cuts, pinching and other mechanical injuries. The design should not contain clamps, protruding screws and bolts, sharp or piercing edges, rough edges, etc. that are dangerous for children.

Photo caption: Pay attention to sharp corners. A child can easily get hurt if they fall

Paintwork

To ensure maximum safety, it is permissible to use water-based paints approved for the manufacture of children's furniture (Unified Sanitary and Hygienic Requirements for Products for Children). It is best to look for models without sharp corners with the most streamlined shape

Features of quality products:

  • Minimum elements and functionality.
  • Every detail is thought out and in its place.
  • Both design and dimensions have been carefully developed.
  • Growing chairs are easily and quickly adjusted.

There is no need to call a specialist or use any expensive tools for this. You can adjust the seat and footrest to the desired height in one minute.

RostOk (Russia)

Convenient model design, characterized by simplicity and ease of installation. Suitable for kids, schoolchildren and adults. Withstands a significant load - about one hundred kilograms.

Pros:

  • acceptable price;
  • availability of models with and without coating (to choose from);
  • stability of the structure (does not loosen, does not turn over);
  • good build quality;
  • fairly easy installation;
  • additional removable tabletop;
  • reliable seat belts for children;
  • long service life.

Flaws:

  • curved back (According to experts, the back of the chair should be straight);
  • There are complaints about the quality of materials (plywood is chipping).

A good product in the mid-price range. Provides correct fit, forms healthy posture, strengthens back muscles. Easy to care for.

Kinds

Modern growing chairs can be divided into types according to several classifications:

  • age of children: for preschoolers, schoolchildren;
  • material of manufacture: plastic, wood, metal;
  • cost: budget models, premium models;
  • type of design: simple models, with a limiter, models with a wide seat, etc.

Growing chair with feeding stand and safety belts for baby

Growing boxes for preschoolers are equipped with a special limiter. It allows you to ensure maximum safety for the child. Larger structures are provided for schoolchildren. Such products are necessarily orthopedic. Schoolchildren spend a lot of time at the table. An orthopedic brace for children allows you to relieve stress from the spine.

Universal chair suitable for preschoolers, schoolchildren and even adults

Based on the material used, wooden chairs are more popular. No wonder. They are environmentally friendly, safe, stylish. Wooden furniture can last a long time and will be a good addition to the interior of a nursery.

Durable wooden growing chair for baby

Based on cost, chair models are divided into budget and premium. Budget ones are usually made of plastic. They are short-lived and fragile.

Growing chair DEMI plastic gray-green

Expensive ones are made from natural materials. They have a stylish appearance, are equipped with a soft seat, and are safe during use.

Orthopedic chair “Vyrastaika”, made of high-quality birch plywood

Stokke Steps (Norway)

A high chair for children aged from six months to a weight of nine kilograms. Compact transforming model with adjustable seat height and footrest.

Pros:

  • comfortable ergonomic seat;
  • special foot support;
  • presence of two tilt positions;
  • the ability to quickly adapt to needs;
  • ease of installation;
  • ease of care;
  • washing upholstery by hand or in a machine;
  • natural manufacturing materials;
  • perforation for good air exchange.

Minuses:

  • not suitable for older children and adults;
  • curved back (According to experts, the back of the chair should be straight);
  • high price with relatively little functionality.

The simplicity of the design is both a plus and a minus at the same time. This growing chair for a child (reviews, comparison with other models) usually gets boring quickly. The high cost of the product, according to parents, does not justify itself.

How to choose what to pay attention to?

There are a number of rules for the correct position of a child in a chair:

  • – knees bent at right angles;
  • – back and hips at an angle of 90º;
  • – feet are on the floor/footboard;
  • – elbows lie on the table;
  • – neck straight;
  • – shoulders are turned.

When choosing a growing chair, you should pay attention to the following factors:

Age. For babies from 6 months, it is necessary to additionally purchase all the necessary components for the miniature design. For schoolchildren, universal chairs are suitable, which can also be used by adults. Along with the chair, it is worth purchasing a growing desk.

Chiropractors claim that thanks to growing chairs, there is no disruption of blood circulation in the legs, since they do not hang down, but have constant support.

Material. Growing chairs are made from 2 types of material:

  • – wood: environmentally friendly, durable, non-slip seats, high price;
  • – plastic: light weight, less strength, low cost.

Mechanisms for changing seat height . There are two types:

  • – special grooves on the supports;
  • - on furniture bolts.

The second method of fastening is more reliable; the grooves are destroyed over time.

SWEET BABY "Mio Bianco"

It is recommended to use these products only for children starting from the age of three. Features of the model are the presence of 11 adjustments (footrest height). The manufacturer provides four seating positions.

Pros:

  • ease of assembly;
  • speed of adjustments;
  • convenience and comfort;
  • landing stability;
  • relative quality of materials;
  • budget price.

Minuses:

  • bulky and heavy;
  • difficult to move, scratches the floor;
  • no seat belts.

If we compare growing chairs, this model, unlike others, can be used only if the child walks confidently and sits independently, without needing adult support. The infinitely variable depth adjustment is a definite advantage. But the product’s shortcomings are also significant.

How to choose?

When choosing a growing chair, there are several basic criteria to consider.

  1. Purpose.
    If the design is chosen for a child under five years old, you should pay attention to models with a limiter. They will ensure safe use. For schoolchildren, it is worth choosing chairs with soft seats. School-age children spend a lot of time at the table. Their stay there should be as comfortable as possible. Model of a growing chair with a limiter
  2. Material of manufacture. It is better to give preference to wood products. They will last a long time, unlike plastic ones. The latter are much more attractive. They are somewhat similar to office chairs. However, plastic products are easy to break and wear out. Metal models are less popular.

    Children's computer chair adjustable

  3. Functionality. The chair can be with or without a stand, with a wide or narrow seat. The choice will depend only on individual needs.

    Children's growing chairs Kid-Fix and accessories for them

  4. Product weight. The structure must have optimal weight for moving. Before purchasing, it is better to hold the product in your hand to choose the most suitable option.
  5. Price. Parents should understand that orthopedic furniture is not cheap. A price that is too low may indicate insufficient quality of the product. Such a product may even be dangerous. It is better to purchase models at a high price. They will be able to serve longer, better, and safer. Moreover, the service life of the product is not limited.
  6. Ease of use. The main quality of good furniture is ease of transformation. Preference should be given to products with a simple, reliable lock. For example, with large bolts. They are easy to unscrew using a tool. They are more durable and durable. Sawed grooves without additional fasteners may last less.
  7. Brand. Orthopedists and other specialists recommend giving preference to companies that specialize only in the manufacture of orthopedic furniture. Popular companies with a narrow specialization pay more attention to products. The price of products from such companies is, of course, high.

A comfortable and functional favorite piece of furniture in the nursery and kitchen

Children's growing chair. Reviews from orthopedists

Regular chairs from a furniture store are not suitable for children. They ruin your posture because their design does not allow you to sit upright. The child gets tired quickly and is capricious. Older children have difficulty completing homework, constantly fidget and are distracted from their studies. When choosing a product such as a growing chair for a child, a comparison of the most popular models shows:

the optimal choice is the product of a manufacturer who was able to ensure the correct position of the back and the whole body, taking into account the recommendations of pediatricians and pediatric orthopedists.

You can read about how to avoid scoliosis in children in this article.

Causes of spinal curvature in children - improper stool

Scoliosis develops because parents did not create the necessary conditions for the child to develop correct posture. As we grow, the situation gets even worse. As a result, many children enter first grade with scoliosis! Such a child cannot sit quietly in class and learn the material. He hunches over, spins all the time, and feels uncomfortable.

Note! If the chair is chosen incorrectly, even in preschool age, spinal torsion, chest deformation appear and a “rib hump” is formed. The child complains of dizziness, back pain and headache. During the examination, doctors detect dysfunction of internal organs, neurological problems and blurred vision.

Growing chair for a child - which one is better?

When studying the rating and comparative analysis of product characteristics, one can draw an unambiguous conclusion:

The best is the adjustable model “Peacock” from the famous Russian manufacturer of children’s furniture “Friend Kuzya”. The product is created according to a unique author's design, is versatile, has an anatomical frame and comfortable support for the legs.

The main advantage of the model is safety, ergonomics, convenience and preservation of correct posture, and therefore the health of the child. Please note - “Peacock Kuzya” is suitable both for feeding and for activities and leisure. You won't have to buy many different models for different needs as your baby gets older.
